Man who attacked Pelosi is sentenced to the maximum 30 years. Paul Pelosi hammer attacker David DePape receives maximum sentence of 30 years in prison excerpts: "My head injuries continue to affect my life. My hair grew back — but I have bumps on my head from the hammer blows and a metal plate from skull surgery," Pelosi wrote. "The dizziness has not gone away." He revealed that 13 months after the assault, in November 2023, he "felt vertigo and fell twice at home, leading to extensive medical evaluations including MRIs and nerve block injections in my neck." "My forehand was ‘de-gloved’ exposing raw nerves and blood vessels. Surgeries and treatments mostly healed the skin, but underneath I still feel pinched nerves in my left hand. This makes basic tasks like using buttons, cutlery and simple tools more difficult," he said.
Trump claimed it wasn't a break-in but rather a 'break-out', insinuating that the man who attacked Paul Pelosi was a victim who was trying to escape Pelosi's house.
GOP silliness in the House. Chaos erupts in hearing as Greene, Ocasio-Cortez clash over ‘fake eyelashes’ jibe at Crockett excerpt: "A House Oversight and Accountability Committee hearing devolved into chaos Thursday night as Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) clashed after the firebrand Republican accused Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) of wearing “fake eyelashes.” The comment — which was made during a markup to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress — prompted nearly an hour of disorder in the committee, with lawmakers screaming over one another and hurling insults left and right, leaving Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) struggling to maintain order."
It's not known if Trump will testify next week in his criminal trial in NY. In May 2023, Trump said he would cut his visit to his Scotland golf courses short to travel back to NY just in time to testify at the Carroll defamation trial. He never testified, even after the judge gave him an extra week to appear. He lost the case. To testify or not to testify: Trump’s fateful choice | The Hill
Bringing Ivanka or Melania into the courtroom would be a problem for Trump. Trump has mistaken his former wife, Marla Maples, for E. Jean Carroll in court during the civil case. He could just as well mistake Ivanka in court for Stormy Daniels. Trump has a way of picking porn stars for affairs who remind him of his wife and daughter. Imagine what it would feel like for Ivanka and Melania being in court listening to that type of talk. Trump's attorneys would probably be willing to pay Ivanka and Melania money to not be in court.

Trump is still doing his morbid monologue about his perception of the U.S. supposedly being in ruins while the morbid QAnon-esque music plays in the background. It's like something out of a horror movie.
Trump keeps referring to Hannibal Lecter, a fictional serial killer in books and movies. Trump seems to be in a pathological world all his own now. Try to find any other U.S. presidential candidate who's behaved in that manner, and one who various surveys show is leading by a couple points.
The mainstream media seems like it wants Trump back at the White House. He generates so much activity that boosts ratings and advertising revenue. It's difficult to remedy such a problem. At least some of the media will favor someone like Trump over a person who is rational but isn't blustering like Trump. A boring democracy is still better than a blustering autocracy.

It's been a year since CNN hosted a 'town hall' event for Trump. https://www.politico.com/news/2023/05/11/trump-town-hall-cnn-employees-00096430 excerpt: "CNN employees are lambasting the network for its hour-long town hall Wednesday with former President Donald Trump, where he continued to push false claims about the 2020 election and defended his actions on Jan. 6. “It was a complete disaster,” one CNN employee told POLITICO Playbook, arguing that the format — specifically, stacking the audience with Trump supporters who cheered his lies — was a “strategic error.” “It made it seem like CNN was endorsing that behavior,” said the employee, who was granted anonymity because they were not authorized to comment publicly on company matters. “Incredibly disappointing.”"
Trump mocked Carroll a year ago at the CNN 'town hall' event. Trump has since lost Carroll cases twice. He was ordered to pay Carroll $83 million.after a previous ruling ordered him to pay Carroll $5 million. Trump subsequently lost the NY civil fraud trial and was ordered to pay $454 million.

He said people here in Washington, D.C., and Chinatown don’t speak English. He attacked Kaitlan [Collins] as a nasty woman ... he made fun of [E. Jean Carroll’s] sexual assault and many in the audience laughed,” Tapper said to Cooper.
