I've been busy, dealing with personal issues here in Michigan and so haven't been paying much attention to the larger world. I stuck my head back into see how things were going and... ...and it seems the Army actually suspended the Maine mass shooter's weapons authorization because they were concerned about his mental health. You know how nuts you gotta be for that to happen? AND the Army contacted law enforcement because they were literally afraid he was going to murder people. Again, do you have any idea how many red flags you have to raise for that to happen? This guy openly TOLD people he was going to commit mass murder, that he was hearing voices in his head, and was displaying very obvious signs of mental illness of the kind that could directly pose a danger to himself and others. Hell, even a Maine gun dealer refused to sell him a "silencer" because he was afraid the guy was going to use it to commit mass murder -- and you would have to just barely step into any gun store in Maine (and yes, I have bought weapons in Maine when I was a resident there) to understand just how goddamn crazy you have to be for a gun dealer in the state of Maine to refuse your business. This guy didn't just raise concerns, he was a practically shouting through a bullhorn on the corner and launching flares: I'm going to do something terrible! I am! I'm going to do something terrible! Yet, somehow, he still had full access to weapons and absolutely no supervision. Oh, and in case you missed it: it's Maine. Everyone is armed. Yet somehow that NRA Good Guy With A Gun was once again missing in action. And here we are. All the things they tell us were supposed to prevent this? Didn't. Didn't. Couldn't. Never have and won't in the future. I mean, if THIS GUY couldn't be stopped despite months of very obvious warnings, who can? Mental illness happens in other countries, but somehow doesn't routinely end in mass slaughter. Because it's not mental illness. It's the guns. Jim Wright
First of all, why does anyone need a silencer? That's the first clue that gun laws are ridicules. And lastly....guns, guns are more loved than small children, more needed than just laws, and an essential tool needed to overthrow our government. So why would we deny this guy a gun?
The 2nd Amendment is a worse-than-useless holdover from a time when we were a confederation of states, had no standing army, and the standard-issue infantry weapon had an effective range of 100 yards and a rate of fire of four rounds a minute. We now spend more on defense than the next ten largest militaries combined and garrison a global empire. The sole raison d'être of the 2nd Amendment; to maintain “a well-regulated militia”, has been a moot point for over 100 years. More Americans have been shot to death in the last 50 years than in all of the wars in American history. Attempting to dismiss that many dead Americans by citing a legislative fossil that should have gone out with buggy whips and high-button shoes is obscene. The Constitution has been amended 27 times. To piously claim that the 2nd Amendment is somehow sacrosanct is an outright lie and murderously idiotic.
Silencers have one purpose, to shoot someone without being detected. A sniper could use it and get away clean before anyone can tell where the shot came from. If you want to shoot someone when you're alone with them it would prevent the shooting from drawing attention. By the time the body is discovered you're long gone. The only practical use for it is in the military.
Occasionally certain individuals are targeted to carry out atrocities. This can be done by various means. I think the handiest way to do this is with directed energy. Victims often report halleucinatory stuff. This was first made generally public around 2016. But i think it was used priorly. I distinctly remember these used for crowd dispersal in ferguson mo. I wasnt there but sometimes local news is more informative than natl. & this was on am radio.
Kinda goes along with our records. Such as incarceration. & many would disagree but our sheer numbers of vehicles go along with some of our other insanities. & theres more of em. Such as trump churches? Plz read bad or the dumbing of america.
Violence has always been senseless to the victims. The victors always have their reasons, usually religious differences, acquisitive desires over wanted land, money, power , possessions or just for the hell of it. As human as can be. Do not expect any changes.
Prohibition always fails. Gun is such a low tech device centuries old trick use flammable powder to shoot something out a tube with one end blocked. Alcohol has such awful effects on society but prohibition failed because same thing its too easy to make.
