Cannon denies Trump's associates' bid to throw out counts in documents case. Judge Cannon denies Trump bid to dismiss certain counts, but strikes paragraph from classified documents indictment
Cohen says Trump will be a fuhrer if he's reelected. Michael Cohen warns Trump will run US ‘like the Führer’ if reelected excerpt: “He’ll run the country like a king, like a supreme leader, like a monarch, like a dictator, like the Führer,” Cohen said, invoking the German word strongly associated with Nazi leader Adolf Hitler. “If re-elected in November, in light of the Supreme Court ruling, his worst impulses will be magnified a hundredfold.” “The depth of Donald’s actions will not be merely isolated to critics, political enemies and the like,” he added, offering the example of “uber-wealthy” individuals like Elon Musk-types seeing “consequences”. “Donald cares for no one or anything other than the almighty dollar,” Cohen said, warning: “No one will be safe.”
Trump is anticipating Harris may replace Biden. Trump always acts like a preschooler with his name-calling. His new name for her is Laffin' Harris.
After nine years of Trump in politics, many Americans may have forgotten by now that there was a time when presidents didn't behave the same as spoiled toddlers like Trump. It's remarkable that the voting public has descended so low as to accept incessant childish behavior as the norm for a president and even a virtue. It has roots in the 90's when people like Rush Limbaugh and Newt Gingrish became national figures. In the 2000's it was reality-show type people like Sarah Palin, a forerunner to Trump. How an older school politician like McCain could have picked someone like her is beyond comprehension. It's like he wanted to be tortured in Vietnam again.
Trump denies knowing about Project 2025 which is trying to install a Deep State that would embed Trumpism into the U.S. government so that it would persist long after he is gone. Biden assails Project 2025, a plan to transform government, and Trump's claim to be unaware of it

Trump was fortunate to have the opportunity to put three highly conservative justices on the Supreme Court who are now bailing him out. It's another example of Trump's uncanny karma and continuation of the long saga of people and groups continually bailing him out. image:
Trump is convincing people that his conviction of 34 felonies is a badge of honor, like winning a big-time wrestling title. The Supreme Court has assisted him with his narrative that he's an accused super-villain who's really a super-hero because Superman abused him. The Superman movie could end with the super-villain not only being acquitted but becoming President of the United States (again). A Mark of Shame for 900 Years. Until Now? excerpt: "On Monday, Mr. Trump’s lawyers told the judge in his Manhattan trial that Mr. Trump’s social media posts, phone records and Oval Office conversations were inadmissible as evidence under the new Supreme Court ruling on presidential immunity, so his convictions ought to be thrown out. It was a state of affairs that might have made Al Capone jealous: a potential lifeline handed to him by six justices on the nation’s highest court, half of whom were his own appointees. For Mr. Trump, even “felon,” a label designed to leave a permanent mark, may prove to be negotiable."
Trump is asking Cannon for a stay on all proceedings in the documents case, except those pertaining to his attempt to lift the gag order. Aileen Cannon stalls Trump case again excerpt; "In addition, they asked Cannon to stay all other proceedings in the case, with the exception of a pending gag order motion. They wrote that the stay is "appropriate to prevent further exploitation of judicial institutions and resources by Executive Branch personnel in connection with the shameful ongoing lawfare campaign.""
In January 2024 Trump's attorneys argued to a three-judge DC district court panel that Trump should have immunity for assassinating political rivals. Trump's attorney Sauer tried to make the prosecution of a president contingent on the president first having to be removed from office by impeachment and conviction in the Senate. It's a faulty argument because Congress may never know what criminal acts a president commits until after he's out of office and it's too late to impeach him. A president could also resign before an impeachment to avoid ever being prosecuted, similar to Nixon resigning. Nixon had the help of Ford pardoning him which indicates that Nixon indeed was open to being prosecuted, which goes against Sauer's argument. The district court ruled against Trump and his legal team. The U.S. Supreme Court eventually overruled the district court and vacated its ruling in July 2024 with its immunity ruling. Trump attorney says president can’t be prosecuted for ordering murders excerpt; “I understand your position to be that a president is immune from criminal prosecution for any official act that he takes as president even if that action is taken for an unlawful or unconstitutional purpose, is that correct?” she said. He replied that prosecution would only be allowed following a conviction by the Senate. She interjected to repeat the query after Mr Sauer’s filibustering answer: “I asked you a yes or no question. Could a president who ordered SEAL Team 6 to assassinate a political rival ... would he be subject to criminal prosecution?” He replied: “Qualified yes – if he is impeached and convicted first.”
The Supreme Court's immunity ruling in July 2024 made moot of Sauer's argument that a president could still be prosecuted for official acts after leaving office if he was first impeached and removed from office. The Supreme Court granted Trump immunity for official acts. The whole debate Sauer tried to raise about impeachment supposedly being needed as a requisite to prosecute, as fringe as that argument was, isn't even an issue anymore. The Supreme Court went even more fringe than Sauer. Trump now has immunity for what the Supreme Court refers to (but doesn't define and relegates to the district courts) as 'official powers', regardless of whatever might happen with impeachment.
Clarence Thomas thinks Jack Smith doesn't have the authority to prosecute Trump. He wrote it in his opinion for the Supreme Court case that granted Trump immunity. Trump asks judge to halt documents case after Supreme Court immunity ruling excerpt: "If this unprecedented prosecution is to proceed, it must be conducted by someone duly authorized to do so by the American people," Thomas wrote.
Clarence Thomas apparently is the only Supreme Court member in the immunity ruling to bring up this issue about Jack Smith in his opinion. Thomas is trying to expand the ruling even further than saying that Trump has immunity. He doesn't even want Jack Smith trying to prosecute him at all. His remarks send a signal to Trump and Cannon to entertain the issue of whether or not Smith has authority.
Trump wants the votes of the minorities who he's been targeting for stop-and-frisk. Trump courts Black men as he pledges return to a policy that disproportionately targeted them excerpt: "Trump’s calls for stop-and-frisk come as he is trying to appeal to more Black voters, hoping to siphon away support from a key constituency that sent President Joe Biden to the White House in 2020. Trump’s appeals have at times been effective — gaining the support Black entertainers like Ye and Sexy Red — and other times not, like saying Black voters relate to him because of his mugshot. With stop and frisk, Trump appears to be catering to his supporters who want him to be tough on crime in urban areas — despite lows in the national crime rate — and hoping that the message also appeals to Black voters who are unenthused about Biden and who are more likely to support his economic policies."
During the 2016 campaign, Trump said the police shouldn't be polite to people when arresting them. He was upset that they carefully load them into the police car and make sure their head doesn't get bumped on the car. At the same time, Trump is trying to establish a rapport with minorities because he says he's now a convict just like they are, so they should vote for him.
Trump visited Philadelphia and said minorities should buy his $399 golden sneakers. At that price, they might have to commit some crimes to afford it (because, as Trump told them at the black church in Detroit, immigrants stole their jobs). Trump can tell police once again to not be polite to them when loading them into the police car and rough them up a bit. After they're convicted, Trump can say they should vote for him because they're convicts just like he is.
