Mike Pence had the same fly problem during a debate.

 

Biden announcing a withdrawal much earlier would have made him a lame duck earlier.

It would have given Trump much more time to prepare to run against Harris.

The move to pull Biden after the RNC convention, at least for the past few weeks, looks like it ended up good for Harris. And Trump is furious.

 

Allan Lichtman doesn't like the idea of Biden stepping down in terms of the chances of the Democrats winning the White House in 2024.

He says it sacrifices the advantage of the incumbency, which is one of his 13 'keys' in his prediction model that he uses to determine who will win the White House.

The incumbency advantage is debatable. Harris is still part of the incumbent Biden administration. She still has an incumbency advantage.

The 2024 campaign for the Democrats is unusual. It doesn't fall into the neat categories of a model like that of Lichtman.

Lichtman says debates don't matter, but that's debatable. In a normal context that may be factual. But when someone as elderly as Biden makes as poor of a performance as he did in the June 2024 debate, it affects who may win the election.

A presidential candidate could literally pass out and collapse on the debate stage. That is expected to have a significant effect on who will win the election (although Lichtman would probably still argue from a semantic purist standpoint that the advantage of the incumbency that would require BIden to stay in the race is more important than the negative effect of a candidate collapsing on the stage).

 

If reelected, Trump will probably award it to the QAnon Shaman for what he perceives as 'significant public or private endeavors' (trying to overturn a legitimate presidential election).

Trump awarded it to Rush Limbaugh during his SOTU address.

 

Walz's unit was called up for duty in Iraq a couple months after he had retired.

Walz probably applied for retirement months in advance of his retirement.

Trump is trying to make it sound like Walz retired after hearing about the unit being called up for duty in Iraq.

Trump never served in the military. He took numerous deferments.

Walz would have been about 40 had he started serving in Iraq when troops were called up in 2004.

Vance was about 20 in 2004.

 

It's difficult to predict Trump's shelf life. He has a way of coming back from situations seemingly impossible to extricate. Losing the 2024 would give him a shelf life of about nine years.

Joe McCarthy had a shelf life of about 4 to 5 years in the early 1950's. Investigations, lawsuits, and dwindling public interest ended his stronghold. His once grand gatherings dwindled to a handful of people.

 

Trump pardoned and commutated the sentences of people committing massive healthcare fraud.

Fraud is one of the main reasons for high healthcare costs in the U.S.

In February 2024, a Trump clemency recipient pleaded guilty to medicare fraud.

If Trump is reelected, considering the way he thinks, he will probably award the massive Medicare fraudster the Presidential Medal Of Freedom.

Trump would probably say that the criminal was treated so unfairly by the DOJ, like he has about many other people who have committed crimes.
