In an excerpt from her forthcoming book on the 2016 race, Clinton recalled Trump’s uncomfortably close positioning on stage during the town hall-style debate at Washington University in St. Louis. The event took place just days after an audio recording from a years-old “Access Hollywood” interview surfaced of the president bragging in vulgar terms about how his celebrity status allowed him to sexually assault women without consequence.

“This is not OK, I thought. It was the second presidential debate and Donald Trump was looming behind me. Two days before, the world heard him brag about groping women. Now we were on a small stage and no matter where I walked, he followed me closely, staring at me, making faces,” Clinton wrote in her book “What Happened,” an excerpt of which was broadcast Wednesday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

“It was incredibly uncomfortable,” she wrote. “He was literally breathing down my neck. My skin crawled. It was one of those moments where you wish you could hit pause and ask everyone watching, well, what would you do? Do you stay calm, keep smiling and carry on as if he weren’t repeatedly invading your space? Or do you turn, look him in the eye and say loudly and clearly, ‘back up you creep, get away from me. I know you love to intimidate women but you can’t intimidate me, so back up.’”

He's trying to use the Supreme Court's immunity ruling to overturn the conviction. Words between Trump and Hope Hicks while he was president were used as part of the evidence in the state trial. The Supreme Court ruling stated that evidence that stems from official duties of a president couldn't be used against a president in other criminal cases.

 

A case like Trump's would normally proceed by being sentenced and going through the appeals process at the state level. If the appeal fails, then the conviction could be appealed to the federal level.

That would take months to perhaps a year. Trump doesn't want that type of delay because it won't delay his sentencing hearing that has been scheduled for September 18, 2024. He wants delays that delay the sentencing hearing.

 

Trump's team has been trying to deflect his lack of action to stop the riot at the Capitol that he helped incite and to instead cherry-pick quotes by Pelosi to try to blame the Capitol police.

Among young Black women, voter registration is up 175% in 13 states since Biden dropped out of race. That's nearly a tripling of registration.

One can speculate whether they will vote for a 78 year-old male whose crew physically accosted a female worker at a cemetery, said he has the right to grab women by their privates, and took away their federal protection for reproductive rights, or if they are going to vote for a Black female.
