    Nope, it doesn't.

Take a look at the recent schism in the United Methodist Church as an example. It splintered because some of the congregations wanted to perform same-sex marriages, allow LGBTQ clergy, and so on. These are as devout a group of Christians as I have ever seen. But their interpretation of Scripture is 180 degrees from, say, Westboro's.

For another example there are the RIC congregations of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Also devout believers, they welcome LGBTQ members and readily ordain LGBTQ clergy. They're pretty liberal.

(As a probably inappropriate aside, I dated a Bisexual ELCA pastor. We once had sex in her church, from the Narthex to the Sanctuary. You can't get more anti-Westboro than that.)

    My late mother often said:

"God can hear you just as well while you are standing in a forest as he can from inside a church."

    I never forgot those words!

Religion is centuries old. Five hundred English versions of the bible that say the same thing over and over and the only thing that changes are the people perpetuating religion. There's organized religion and then there's the fringe religions, like those who worship venomous snakes along with fraud and charlatans who uses religion to fleece victims who, essentially, want to be assured that when they die, they will live again and they're willing to empty their wallets and take it on faith... and more and more people aren't buying it any longer. If you've been to church and you've heard all there is to hear, why keep going to keep hearing the same old stuff that hasn't changed since its inception? So many ministers of faith have proven that they're just as human as the next guy and vows of chastity, apparently, aren't proof against human nature and... people are fed up with religion because they can believe in a higher power without religion trying to control what they believe, how they believe, and especially how they choose to live their life.

It just occurred to me to ask if there's such a thing as a bisexual holy roller since this posting shows up in the Bisexual section of the forum...

Probably. If something isn't physically impossible, it's happening somewhere!

All versions come from one source. The Dead Sea Scrolls. Which are probably versions of other writings of the times. All were written by man and not some kind of a god. Yes you are correct, more and more people aren't buying a the Christmas and Easter story anymore. That's because it isn't real like all of the stories of the old bible. As far as fringe religions there's a bunch out there. Plus the ones that don't worship the same god, or even no god at all.

So, are holy rollers really dangerous? Is the mentality something to be feared or pitied? Should anyone be in fear over this mindset?

"Out of sight, out of mind."

    'nuff said!

Just imagine they do not exist, and pay no attention to their bigoted, convoluted, hypocritical "Praise the Lord" bullshit.

Trouble is, they've brainwashed far too many of the "DG" contingent ("Divine Gullible")........

They do exist so there's no point in sticking one's head in the sand and acting like they don't. You exercise your right to not be bothered by what they have to say; be polite but if they persist, well, they were warned.

They are potentially dangerous enough. They may be a minority but they can be vocal, and they vote. Some of these numbnuts have a lot of money too.

I'm kinda worried about the Pastafarians from the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. I think they're definitely up to something!

For me it is to Islam. I pray to Allah. I follow Muhammad. And that's what I know about it.

I get frustrated about it something along the lines of someone else's shortcoming; they aren't there yet. Well, Allah loves them. They may never find it their highest priority. And it should be a higher priority for me and something more.

'Holy Rollers' are under the radar for me a lot. Much of my life that was very normal for me; when I was little. Later I didn't like some of the things I could see and I didn't want to be like that. I had a hard time associating with some of the people I knew because it was a type-z relationship; there was a toxicity I couldn't afford.

But for some of them, they're quiet, they're modest, they worship and pray, and so they have peace. Well who the **** am I?

I wish them well and only don't want them to misunderstand their role in my life.

Christofascists have been exporting their hatred by funneling money from their collection plates into Russia and Third World countries, where they've been instrumental in legislating the death penalty for LGBTQ folk in Uganda and violent anti-Gay pogroms in Russia., successes they're trying to replicate elsewhere.
Here they got their coercive prayer back into public schools via Kennedy v. Bremerton School District, and got Roe v. Wade eviscerated via Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, effectively banning abortion for at least a third
of American women, who are now dying as a direct result. In their Dobbs opinion, Thomas and Alito openly invited them to file challenges to Obergfell v. Hodges and Lawrence v. Texas, all but promising the Christofascists preordained SCOTUS rulings in their favor. Meanwhile, Moms for Liberty (Klanned Karenhood) is trying their damnedest to culturally erase us by banning books, Pride observances & flags, and PFLAG & GSA clubs; sadistically terrorizing a new generation of LGBTQ children back into their suicidal closets.
Given the chance, there's not a shadow of doubt in my mind that they won't stop at merely burning books. "Live and let live" is completely antithetical to their Taliban mindset, which literally demonizes us as Satanic and casts themselves as literal holy warriors. 'Praise the Lord, and pass the ammunition.'
There's nothing they'd like better given the opportunity than to treat us to some of their ghost-written Ugandan justice.
Yeah; you're goddamned right they're dangerous.

Sounds like you're talking about the Republican Party more than religious holy rollers... or could they be one and the same? Do they pose a danger to me? I think not. Am I going to be fearful of whatever shit they're doing to push their agenda into a society that no longer wants anything to do with it? Not even. I am aware that Christianity, in particular and in its various flavors, has been pushing their homophobic beliefs everywhere they've managed to do so and if you buy into that bullshit, well, maybe one should be fearful of holy rollers and their skewed beliefs. See, some of what you said crosses over into US politics and, well, so much for separation of church and state when people are thumping their bibles at lawmakers to abolish abortions even if women wind up dying... and like their lives don't mean anything - and they didn't way back in the day and when religion was created.

It's not just a matter of prohibition of active promotion of the LGBT agenda (don't kill gays...wow, what an agenda!). It's a matter of active promotion of an anti LGBT agenda (kill gays). I'm not exaggerating much, if I am. And for "them" perception of queerness counts as confirmation, so if you smile at a guy or wear a pink shirt you're just as good as gay, gay, gay.
But they wouldn't stop there. Miscegenation would be prohibited under them. So would premarital sex and pornography, and not on the grounds that it's exploitative of women, because they don't give a shit about women. They'd probably push for laws against masturbation too, and actually try to prosecute a few people just to set an example they mean business.
I wish I was making this up but these people are this unhinged and would go this far. And some of them are really good with money and have lots of it, or good with politics and have lots of clout. These assholes are not a live and let live bunch. They want very much to micromanage society.
To be fair though, I see signs of them dying out and making their desperate last moves to make the world in their preference. But it doesn't mean decent people shouldn't let their guard down. The tortoise won the race because the hare became too confident.
