I agree with some of that, but not the statement about not being turned on by my penis. I masturbate because looking at my penis turns me on. I masturbate because touching my hard penis turns me on. I masturbate because stroking my penis feels wonderful and my orgasms feel amazing. None of this has anything to do with sexual orientation or the need to procreate. I don't think there is anything weird about the act of masturbation itself, but watching some men masturbate can be weird.
