"So Canada don’t have anything the US needs (according to him), but they should become the 51st state, because……..?

And if they don’t have anything you need but you make them the 51 state then aren’t just imposing an extra tax burden on Americans by doing so?

And to think that 76 Million people thought that this man was worth giving another shot at the White House."

"Attacking America’s allies, building relations with America’s authoritarian enemies? Trump is like that guy who beats up on his family in public so he can impress how strong he looks to the gangsters down the steet."

Trudeau says Trump's quest to annex Canada is real.

Trudeau says Trump threat to annex Canada 'is a real thing'

    excerpt:

'An Ipsos poll conducted in January shows that the majority of Canadians (80%) oppose their country becoming part of the US, and would never vote 'yes' in any referendum on the issue.

Such a move would also require the approval of both chambers of Congress in the US, and would need a supermajority of 60 votes to get through the Senate.

Federal judge temporarily blocks Musk from accessing Treasury Department information.

Judge blocks Elon Musk's team from Treasury Department records

    excerpt:

"A federal judge has blocked Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (Doge) from accessing the personal financial data of millions of Americans in Treasury Department records, according to court documents.

US District Judge Paul A. Engelmayer issued a preliminary injunction on Saturday to prohibit access, ordering Musk and his team to immediately destroy any copies of records.

The move comes after 19 state attorneys general sued the Trump administration after Doge, a cost-cutting initiative led by Musk, was given access to the records.

They argued access for Musk, a "special government employee", and Doge, which is not an official government department, violated federal law."

The situation is ripe for Trump to defy the courts.

The courts would need to refer a contempt to the DOJ, which Trump has vanquished. Pam Bondi is the AG and Trump has fired various inspectors general.

Trump could send the DOJ to go after judges he doesn't like who ruled he was in contempt. Pam Bondi said she will conduct a review of prosecutors in NY who prosecuted Trump.

Congress won't impeach and remove Trump. The U.S. Supreme Court is on his side. He's no longer eligible for a presidential election.

    excerpt:

“We don’t really know what records are being examined and how widely any information from these records is being disseminated,” Bates said. Still, he did not seem fully persuaded by the government’s assurances that the department’s data — which includes sensitive medical and employment records of Americans — was being adequately protected.

“You’re asking me, in this instance, to have a great deal of confidence … in a couple of people, who, according to public reports, are very young,” Bates said, and who “have never been in federal government.”

Lawyers for the challengers indicated at the hearing that they intend to expand their lawsuit to also challenge DOGE’s efforts to access data at the Department of Health and Human Services.

The federal judge in that particular case expressed concern about Musk letting young people with no government experience access confidiential information about Americans.

Yet the judge has ruled that Musk can do it.

President Donald Trump Wants to Change Social Security, but It Comes With a Potentially Big Cost to Retirees | The Motley Fool

    excerpt:

"Collectively, ending the taxation of benefits and eliminating taxes on overtime pay and tips would widen Social Security's deficit by an estimated $1.85 trillion over 10 years. This would expedite the OASI's asset reserve depletion timeline and meaningfully increase how much benefits would need to be cut if/when the OASI's asset reserves run dry.

The short-term benefits of Trump's proposed Social Security changes would be more than outweighed by the long-term cost to retirees."

    Trump fires National Archives chief.

Trump has been outraged since 2021 that the National Archives requested he return government documents. Trump's refusal evenually led to the FBI searching Mar-a-Lago and federal criminal charges against Trump. After doing a legal rope-a-dope for over a year, Judge Cannon in FL eventually dropped the documents case against Trump about two weeks after Justice Clarence Thomas on the Supreme Court made an extraneous opinion as part of its presidential immunity ruling that he thought Jack Smith didn't have the legal authority to prosecute Trump (which was music to Cannon's ears).

If Trump really thinks the U.S. pays hundreds of billions of dollars of 'subsidies' to Canada, he should simply stop paying the 'subsidies'.

Musk should be able to easily do it with DOGE.

Trump has revoked Biden's security clearance.

Biden revoked Trump's security clearance, although, arguably, he had to considering Trump had just incited an insurrection and riot against the U.S. government.

Trump seems to think he can selectively dismantle agencies like the FBI and CIA and that it won't affect the ability to keep him safe.

Considering what Trump is doing to many people, not many of them would even want to keep him safe, even if it's their duty.

That's a downgraded version of Turmp's remarks during the 2024 campaign when he said he would impose 10 to 20 percent tariffs on ofther countries.

Apparently, he's going to increase any tariffs, if necessary, on other countries to match their tariffs on the U.S.

If the tariffs of another country on the U.S. are lower than the U.S. on theirs, it's not clear if Trump will lower U.S. tariffs to match. To be reciprocal, he would need to lower them in those cases.
