Johnson threatens to defund judges and shut down courts, even entire districts. Speaker Mike Johnson floats eliminating federal courts as GOP ramps up attacks on judges excerpt: “We do have the authority over the federal courts, as you know. We can eliminate an entire district court. We have power of funding over the courts and all these other things,” Johnson told reporters on Tuesday. “But desperate times call for desperate measures, and Congress is going to act.”
Trump imposes 25% tariff on imported cars. Trump announces 25% tariffs on foreign-made cars excerpt: President Trump on Wednesday said he will put a 25% tariff on automobiles and light trucks imported into the U.S., escalating his administration's use of aggressive trade measures in an effort to boost domestic manufacturers. "This will continue to spur growth like you haven't seen before," Mr. Trump said from the Oval Office Wednesday afternoon. "We'll effectively be charging a 25% tariff. But if you build your car in the United States, there is no tariff."
Trump floats the idea of reparations for his rioters. https://www.politico.com/news/2025/...ty-of-compensation-for-jan-6-rioters-00250063 excerpt: President Donald Trump on Tuesday floated the possibility of financial compensation for people who were prosecuted for taking part in the riot at the Capitol in 2021. Speaking to Newsmax on Tuesday night, Trump said he had taken “care” of his supporters who attempted to overturn his 2020 election loss and added there is “talk” about compensating them. “A lot of the people that are in the government now talk about it because a lot of the people in government really like that group of people,” he said, referring to the Jan. 6 defendants, who he described as protesting “peacefully and patriotically.”
https://www.politico.com/news/2025/...ty-of-compensation-for-jan-6-rioters-00250063 excerpt: The president also described himself as a “big fan” of Ashli Babbitt, who was shot and killed by a Capitol police officer as she attempted to climb through a shattered window into the Speaker’s Lobby. “Ashli Babbitt was a really good person who was a big MAGA fan, Trump fan. And she was innocently standing there, they even say trying to sort of hold back the crowd,” Trump said. “And a man did something to her that was unthinkable when he shot her.”
Trump is in a fantasy world. Ashli Babbitt wasn't trying to hold back the rioters or innocently standing there. She was at the front of the group of rioters who were trying to smash through a barricaded door at the entrance to the Speaker's Lobby. Members of Congress were on the other side being escorted away from the House chamber to another location. On the video, a squeaky voice that sounded like Babbitt, upon seeing members of Congress on the other side of the door on the video said, "There they are! What the fuck?" She appeared to be the only female in the group of rioters at the door. Babbitt started to climb through a window that the rioters had broken and was shot by a Capitol police officer.
It's unfortunate that Trump probably will never be brought to trial for the riot he caused. The best dose of medicine for Trump would be for him to be forced to watch in court the violence of his rioters and the shooting of Ashli Babbitt. The judge would have to force him to watch the video and not close his eyes and fall asleep like he did at his criminal trial in NY where he was found guilty of felony financial crimes..
The video of Trump's rioters trying to break the door down shows the violence of the situation. YouTube user JaydenX posted the videos he recorded at the entrance to the Speaker's Lobby. After being interviewed by the FBI and turning over the video, he was arrested.

Why is Trump using a chat service like Signal in the first place to try to conduct military operations. Trump's people continue to try to downplay the blunder. They say nothing critical was released to unauthorized people, yet the reporter at The Atlantic received messages in advance of when the military strike would occur. It occurred a couple hours later at the time that was stated in the chat messages he received.
The reporter from The Atlantic thought that perhaps he was being duped by a foreign adversary of the U.S. But he wasn't. It was a domestic adversary: Trump.
The GOP in Congress should be talking about their authority over Trump's wanton firing of federal workers and other actions by Trump and Musk that should be done through Congress, but they're quiet about it.. They can stay quiet until the 2026 midterms and see how their constituents vote. Many are already upset about Trump's firings, particularly veterans. They will need to answer to their constituents at home who are being injured by Trump. The old line that the protests that are already occurring at the state and local level are just staged events by Democrats isn't expected to last forever.
https://www.nytimes.com/2025/03/04/us/politics/veteran-firings-trump-musk-democrats.html excerpt: "Nearly 30 percent of civil service employees in the federal government are veterans, according to data as of September from the Office of Personnel Management, the government’s human resources arm. Mr. Trump and Mr. Musk have fired more than 20,000 employees who were in probationary status, based on data compiled by The New York Times. About 6,000 of all fired federal employees so far were veterans, according to a count by Democrats on the House Appropriations Committee as of Feb. 23. This includes more than 2,000 veterans at the Defense Department, 676 at Treasury, about 500 at the Energy Department and 450 at the Agriculture Department. More job losses are around the corner as agencies begin a formal process known as reduction in force, including at the Pentagon, where veterans make up 43 percent of the civilian work force, according to data from the Office of Personnel Management."

Trump targets zoo for having what he perceives as an improper ideology. Trump executive order on Smithsonian targets funding for programs with 'improper ideology' excerpt: "Trump claimed there has been a “concerted and widespread” effort over the past decade to rewrite American history by replacing “objective facts” with a “distorted narrative driven by ideology rather than truth,” adding that it casts the “founding principles” of the United States in a “negative light.” The order he signed behind closed doors puts Vice President JD Vance, who serves on the Smithsonian Institution’s Board of Regents, in charge of overseeing efforts to “remove improper ideology” from all areas of the institution, including its museums, education and research centers, and the National Zoo."
