Trump administration plans to deport Garcia to country not of his origin. Government plans to deport Abrego Garcia to a country that's not El Salvador
Trump is apparently taking advantage of the U.S. Supreme Court ruling this week that permitted the government to deport someone to a country that is not of the person's origin while the courts determine (which may take years) if Trump's actions are Constitutional. Garcia is originally from El Salvador. He fled to U.S. and had permission from a judge to stay in the U.S. Trump mistakenly deported him to a terrorist prison in El Salvador. Garcia's attorneys were able to have him returned to the U.S. where the DOJ indicted him for human smuggling which his attorneys deny and said was based on two unsavory witnesses who agreed to cooperate with the DOJ.

It will make imports more expensive for Americans on top of Trump's import tariffs. The shortage of farm and food workers (the ones who allegedly stole all the great jobs from Americans) because of Trump deportations will further increase prices.

It was yet another 6-3 ruling with all six conservatives agreeing with SC ban. The effects of Trump placing three conservatives on the court have become increasingly apparent. The pragmatic effects of it may have not yet sunken in with the general public.

If that's factual, why does the Trump administration require at least a week's notice before letting members of Congress visit a detention facility.

Another 6-3 ruling along ideological lines in favor of Trump. The U.S. Supreme Court limits federal judges ability to temporarily pause Trump's executive order to end birthright citizenship. It didn't address the issue of whether Trump's order to end birthright citizenship is constitutional. Other legal avenues can be pursued through to federal courts to try to block Trump's executive order. At issue is the willingness of the U.S. Supreme Court to not allow federal judges to block executive orders that may be unconstitutional. The U.S. Supreme Court earlier in the week allowed Trump to deport people to countries not of their origin while the issue of whether it is constitutional goes through the courts, which could take years. https://www.nytimes.com/live/2025/06/27/us/birthright-citizenship-supreme-court
https://www.nytimes.com/live/2025/06/27/us/birthright-citizenship-supreme-court excerpt: Senator Chuck Schumer, Democrat of New York and the minority leader, in a dire statement warned that the Supreme Court’s decision to limit courts’ authority to block illegal executive actions marked a “terrifying step towards authoritarianism.” He said that Congress had to check the unimpeded power of an out-of-control executive branch. “Republican members must stand up for core American democratic values and not for unchecked presidential power of the kind that our founders most deeply feared.”
