Jay Leno criticizes political late-night hosts amid Colbert 'Late Show' cancellation Leno is one of the few comedians these days that I have much respect for, in no small part, because he writes most of his own jokes. However, he totally misses the point that the right wing is censoring half of reality, and demanding that sarcasm be the only acceptable form of comedy, ensuring that comedians like Colbert will always have an audience. Weapons are our biggest export, are already becoming dramatically larger, and the more weapons we sell, the more heavily we censor the mass media, especially, comedy. Sarcasm only has real meaning, when you can measure its dollar value, so I'm working on measuring it, with 14 places of accuracy and precision.
I think if you use the latest quantum supercomputer computer you can take it out to 71 places of accuracy in .0000000001 seconds. However I prefer to measure the potential dollar value of sarcasm by the proportion of groans vs chuckles it evokes in a typical psychiatric ward for those with multiple personalities.
It’s not even that. It’s that they like say derogatory or racist things and then play it off like it’s just a joke.
Yeah, well people also say that about music and Hollywood. Musicians and actors can't have public opinions about politics. Why can't comedians favor one side or the other? And by the way his comments were made at The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation. So, by Leno's standard, if a comedian favors one side or the other they deserve to have their show cancelled. So much for free speech. I guess he's against the song Alice's Restaurant and the movie Dr. Stangelove. Get a life Jay.
Its much easier to measure in sparkling laughter, the infectious kind nobody can resist. Psychology has no accepted theory for humor, which falls under the catch all category of schizophrenia.
Sorry, but music and Hollywood can't compete with weapons. Nvidia being the most recent dominant high-tech weapons company. The ability for the oligopolies to claim that making money is a national security issue, is priceless. Leno didn't say he shouldn't have the right to freedom of speech, just that you can't expect anyone to listen. Colbert's ratings were going down the toilet, and CBS used him as a bargaining chip. The ultimate disaster for a professional sarcastic political comedian, is when their jokes are no longer considered funny, and don't make money. Guaranteeing people won't hesitate to sell them down the river, to the highest bidder. It's their tradition, to sell each other down the river.
Colbert had the highest rating of anyone in his time slot. Since his cancellation his rating has increased by 32%. Apparently this professional sarcastic political comedian is still funny.
The tonight show has been on for decades---Steve Allen--Jack Paar--were the hosts in the past. There's a long tradition of The Tonight show, including the standard bearer--Johnny Carson. Oh---just now losing money? AGAIN--MONEY and ass kissing. Maybe some day , regular working people will have more say-so in how this country is run. Uh--huh. That's the ticket. ( I have a fine bridge for sale--please check the ads in today's paper.)
I'm certain people will laugh at him, as they boot him off the air. People laugh at Donald Duck all the time, until he comes after them. Millionaires are fighting over who gets to talk. They've already automated censoring half of reality. Colbert's show was supposedly losing 40 million a year. If he was the highest rated late night show, CBS paid more than he was worth.
Fox makes money, like any other oligopoly, by waving the biggest stick around. Disney and the Muppets would roll over and play dead, but their audience would lynch them anyway. It's illegal to vote for Mickey Mouse in Maryland, and they're using the war with China and Russia as an excuse to automate censoring half of reality, and making it easier to simply stomp on anyone criticizing the oligopolies. Basically, China has a trillion dollars a year larger GDP, and has become the biggest threat to Wall Street, with everyone now demanding the right to rig their own economies, if Wall Street can't compete. Size does matter, especially in high tech, where the only way to make faster progress is to throw money at the problem until someone finds a solution. My father worked for the Pentagon, and had people lie to him all day long about what their technology could do. Once you weed the worst of them out, you can find people who might be worth your time. Sarcasm is all Americans know anymore, with the right wing stomping on any salty humor, while militant atheists encourage more sarcasm, then act surprised and indignant when they actually have to pay more freedom of speech.
