But they will still have to put up a defense and spend a pile on that. It's like my no compete agreement with my job....there's no way it can be enforced, but I would have to pay someone to defend me....that is the scare tactic to keep the sales team from jumping ship too closely...

Argentina Took a Chainsaw to Its Economy. It Now Needs US Help %%page%% %%sep%% %%sitename%% Argentina took a chainsaw to its economy. It now needs US help

    excerpt:

Anahí Wiedenbrüg, senior policy adviser at the International Institute for Sustainable Development, told Newsweek that Milei’s “main political achievement” has been bringing down Argentina’s runaway inflation, but that this “has come at a steep cost.”

“In Argentina, fiscal consolidation has historically fallen disproportionately on the most vulnerable: Cuts to social spending, reductions in transfers to provinces, and an erosion of real wages,” she said. “Far from correcting structural asymmetries, these adjustments tend to deepen them.”

“The government was driven by the desire to maximize the speed of reduction in inflation because it believed this was the key to winning the national midterm elections in October,” said Paul Segal, professor of economics at the IAE Business School in Argentina. “But most economists were aware that this economic regime was fragile.”

Trump has called the president of Argentina, Milei, his favorite president.

After Arentina took a chainsaw to its economy (and its president gifted a chainsaw to Musk), Trump is now bailing out Argentina (the country that is selling soybeans to China that China stopped buying from the U.S. because of Trump's trade wars that injured the American farmers that Trump says he will bail out with tariff money from his trade wars).

Trump's latest move is up to 100% tariffs on pharmaceuticals.

Some of Trump's fans will be supporting that also. "Yay! 100% tariffs on pharmaceuticals!"

Trump doesn't appear to have limits to his tariff wars, with the possible exception of S&P and other major indixes quickly dropping by 20% or more.

Congress will eventually need to intercede, but that may require a great deal of injury to the country before the GOP has enough courage to counter Trump.

Congress rewriting acts and and other legislation that Trump is abusing (like how it revised the Electoral Count Act of 1887 in late 2022) would be a brute force method of stopping him and would mostly preclude him from using the conservatives on the Supreme Court to wildly interpreted in his favor acts that Congress previously didn't write sufficiently carefully to avoid abuse by people like Trump which wasn't fully anticipated.

To date, the only time the GOP in Congress seemed to show a genuine concern about Trump's trade wars was in the spring of 2025 when they caused the S&P and other indices to drop by about 20%. Trump finally backed off on his excessive tariffs on China which were already up to a minimum of 145%. not including additional tariffs.

The Trump administration moved the girlfriend of Epstein, convicted of sex trafficking, to a minimum security prison after the deputy AG met with her for lengthy conversations.

It suggests Trump made a deal with her to not reveal embarrassing information about connections between him and Epstein.

Ghislaine Maxwell moved from Florida to women's prison in Texas

    excerpt:

In a statement, the family of the late Virginia Giuffre - one of Jeffrey Epstein's victims - expressed their "horror and disgust" at what they described as the "preferential treatment" given to Ghislaine Maxwell.

They further condemned the move as having been made "without any notification to Maxwell's victims".

"This is the justice system failing victims right before our eyes," the statement said. "The American public should be outraged by the special treatment afforded to a pedophile and a criminally charged child sex offender."

Trump escalates threats against people and groups he doesn't like.

Trump escalates retribution campaign with charges and threats

    excerpt:

“Donald Trump has made clear that he intends to turn our justice system into a weapon for punishing and silencing his critics,” said Sen. Mark Warner of Virginia, the top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee. The Comey indictment came less than a week after Trump installed a former White House aide and confidant to the role of U.S. Attorney in the Eastern District of Virginia. The president had forced the ouster of his previous hand-selected pick because he was not sufficiently responsive to calls from Trump to bring charges against his longtime targets.

Pam Bondi's stock phrase to try to defend Trump's retribution campaign is "Nobody is above the law."

Only a few days were remaining to indict Comey, as the five-year mark was approaching.

That's why Trump was so antzy this week to indict Comey.

Trump's newly appointed U.S. attorney presented Comey case to grand jury on her own, source says

    excerpt:

"The appointment of Halligan, who was on President Donald Trump's defense team in the Mar-a-Lago classified documents case prior to his election to a second term, followed the resignation of acting U.S. Attorney Erik Siebert last Friday after pressure grew from the White House to prosecute Comey.

Time was of the essence in bringing an indictment: A five-year statute of limitations on the charges against the former FBI director was set to expire early next week."
