I started perimenopause last year. My sex drive has tanked since the end of the year. I used to love sex and masturbating. Now I have no urge or need. I feel like I'm not ready to have no sexual life. Any suggestions on holistic ways to amp up the sex drive while perimenopause takes over my life?

So how crazy was your sex life before this happened and do you mind me asking your approximate age? I’m 30 and an uncontrollable slut, so one of my worries would be to someday lose the urge.

I was a slut too and still want to be a slut! If I wasn't having sex I was pleasing myself. It literally just stopped one day. Around 48. And Since August of last year it has slowly just left. I never thought I would lose the urge. It doesn't even pop into my head. I also have chronic pain and am on a lot of meds and I know that affects it too, but this is different. It's just not there anymore. I hate it. Men can take a pill. What can women take? I plan on trying to start more holistic treatments for pain. Even now, if I just try to please myself, I can't. I can't even get wet. It's fucking stupid honestly. Makes me very insecure.

Have you been to a doctor…any possibility of hormone therapy? I am a nurse and often there are many factors.

Yes. I started hormones in October. They got rid of hot flashes for the most part. But sexual urge is still gone.

Oh gosh, so sorry to hear this…no other suggestions from your medical doctor. I’ve heard that medications for pain can cause this. What about marijuana?

If you're taking some SSRI's that will sure do it.

Forgive me, ladies, for intruding in on your conversation, but sadly my wife is going through this as well. She had a healthy sex drive until menopause, and now I get the feeling that we only get intimate when she feels guilty for neglecting me. Anything I can learn here would be helpful. Thanks.
