raw edge of fabric question

    ok, so I have this really lovley base twill fabric that I want to make a poncho out of, but here is my question; I think it would be really cute to let the edge fray a bit, and not fold it under and stich it down, so if I left the bottom edge raw and just did a zig zag stich around it, would it completley unravel, or do you guys think it would last?

    It would last. Just make sure to do a tight zig-zag. Or even go over it twice with your zig-zag.
