Haven't read it yet, but it looks like a good site (online book). http://members.aol.com/bhthom/hikertxt.htm
You're missing out, amigo. It's much easier than barefooting in the city, because the forest floor is soft and cool. It's a joy that I am sorry that I only discovered last summer.
Well, I don't know where you hike but all the places where I've been so far had a lot of sticks and little rocks on the ground, that really tend to hurt bare feet. And not to mention various spiky plants that bring great pain.
Yeah, there's some of that, but if you watch your step at all you should be fine. Your foot is tougher than you think, flexible too, it can handle it.
I always want to barefoot hike (havent read the book.... yet ) because we go camping a lot and rock climb, but my parents yell at me and make me were some sort of shoe. but i'd still rather wear none. on trail or were ever you hike, there isnt like dangerous things on it, its just as if an animal like a dog or something was walking on it.
The more you hike BF the more you'll love it. You'll gain confidence on your abilities and become more fit for walking or even running. Hiking through a field or forest when you're completely tuned in to the world around you is awesome. After a very short time you'll find yourself more confident and un afraid of terain that would have made you hesitant. The "BF Hiker" book is a muist read for any one that's ever taken a walk in the woods. Archie
This book is practically the bible of barefoot hiking. And it's excellent for just barefooting in general. A must have for anyone who has decided to get into outdoor barefooting. It's also available at most book stores, like Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, etc. Highly, highly recommended reading.
