Hi people, Anyone has an opinion they'd share with me about Christopher Reeve doing Superman? It's my fave movie!
It's a very good characterization when you come to think of it. The looks were good, and he was both dashing as a superheroe, and goofy and nerdy as Clark Kent. The first two films are among my favorites and I love the opening slapstick sequence of the third. ---- Superman: I'm here to fight for truth, justice, and the American way. Lois Lane: You're gonna end up fighting every elected official in this country! ---- Lex Luthor: Now, call me foolish, call me irresponsible, but it occurs to me that a 500 megaton bomb planted at just the proper point would, uh... Superman: Would destroy most of California. Millions of innocent people would be killed. And the west coast as we know it would-... Lex Luthor: Fall into the sea. [With a little wave] Lex Luthor: Bye bye California. Hello new west coast. My west coast. [overlays map with new map] Lex Luthor: Costa Del Lex. Luthorville. Marina del Lex. Otisburg - "Otisburg"? Otis: Miss Tessmacher said. She has her own little place. Lex Luthor: "Otisburg"? Otis: It's a little bitty place! Lex Luthor: [angrily] "Otisburg"? Otis: Alright, I'll wipe it off, that's all. [erases "Otisburg"] --- There's talks of a remake with Jake Gyllenhaal. Nothing against Jake (terrific actor if you ask me) but many people just don't see him as Superman. McG is set as director of the project. His previous films are the Charlies Angels franchise.
Been a hardcore superman fan since I was five. My pap bought me two comics when we were shopping once to keep me quiet. One was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles which I read and pushed aside and the other was Superman. I read this one ten times in a row-- it was magnificent. I was stunned. This man fights for good, and he has all these superpowers and helps the weak. Amazing! He can fly and lift spaceships and shoot heat from his eyes but he still loves his family! Wow! It sounds ridiculous but he taught me about good and evil and right and wrong. I always vote for the superhero while others were attracted to the villain. I honestly nearly started crying when I read his death issue. It was so sad. Superman is my icon as a child and he holds a dear place in my heart. I'm a purist when it comes to this character and any changes or anything like that I'm always up to date. I watch everything involving this character. I have every episode of Smallville recorded and I love the Max Fleischer cartoons. They're incredible. I still gasp in amazement whenever I read his comics. I love this character.
