I prefer beads, actually. I never understood the idea of spending a lot of money on metal. Beads are cool because they cost 10 bucks to get a bucket of them at the art store in New Paltz, and I can make my own jewelery. Most of the gold and silver stuff I own was given to me. My grandma gave me a golden Star of David necklace for Chanukkah one year. My best friend also gave me a similar necklace, only it was silver. I wear them on religious holidays or when I'm really dressed up, but mostly, I just stick to my beads or nothing.
I adore silver. And I love precious stones. I have just came to stay with my mum last night and she showed me one of her new rings... white gold with a sapphire set in the middle..... sooo beautifull! She wont tell me how much it cost though! I dont have too much in the way of expensive jewelary, I cant afford it at this stage. My mum gave a crystal necklace and matching earrings last night and while they ARE beautifull, I would imagine they didnt cost a great deal. I think silver is a lot nicer than gold. Stones I love are diamonds, sapphires, emeralds and rubies.
I wear a lot of Native American silver jewelry...I have a few gold earrings, but not many...I love my Hopi bracelet, and Hopi/turquoise rings...
I think gold can look so tacky sometimes. But I don't usually wear either. It's wooden beads and bodhi seeds for me.
any silvery coloured metal works. silver, white gold, platinum (i've never been fortunate enough to own any platinum other than some stupid plastic credit card... yet). i like them all. gold is okay, i have some pretty gold rings. i like the pink coloured gold better than the yellow. -z
I don't wear a lot of jewelry. Mostly earrings and I just got a new wedding ring. I like silver better (or white gold, as my wedding ring is.) I think it looks nice on me, and when I was a teen, gold was a disco-person fad, and I didn't like that disco look at all. I have a few gold earrings, mostly ones Bear bought me. I think gold looks really nice on brown or black skin, though.
I like the lighter metals (silver, white gold, platinum) a lot better then gold. But usually, the designs of silver are the ones I like best. I rarely saw something made of white gold or platinum that I liked. Something interesting about the gold/silver thing, I learned in yemen. There, the decision is kind of gender based: gold is only reserved for women. They get it for the wedding, and in case she is divorced, she can sell it, so that she has money. Silver is more for men, but as far as I know women are allowed to have it too. So if you go to jewelery stores, (they are seperated, silver stores, and gold stores) the solver ones have a lot more man's jewlery, and the gold ones have only women's jewlery (a few exceptions)
i love big tacky gold things, but i have more silver. The only real thing i own is my class ring. It is gold with a huge pink stone in it. Gaudy as hell.
Platinum is expensive. When we went to get the wedding ring this time I asked to see the platinum just because a lot of people really like it. (My mother's wedding set in the 50s was platinum, and one of my best freinds had a platinum set.) My ring (white gold) was just over $100.00. The same exact ring, in platinum, was $949.95! WOW! Nice stuff, if you can afford it.
White gold, eventhough most people can't tell the difference between silver and white gold. I also like rose gold, but I don't own any yet. Real gold is just too yellowy for me.
No clue y but I just like the color silver instead of the yellow. But I also like copper and stuff, so I'm just werid.
I got a plain platinum bands for our wedding. My mom had it too and I love the soft way it patinas. Plain bands and cheap for platinum. I paid about 350.00 for both. Edit: Sig other lost his at our nudie camp this weekend - he was planting, cleaning, throwing way trash, cleaning out the pond, impossible to figure out where it slipped off. We had love sayings engraved in them. He is heartsick.
I'm not a woman and don't wear any jewelry as a man, but I've always preferred silver over gold on a woman.
come on ryan ya know you're pimpin it with your over size gold chains and the giant letter R (; why do men do that it's like an instant jerk alert if the dude wears jewlrey? do any women actually find that sexy? it makes me wanna puke
