So will there be directions on the home site this year? Where else can I find them. Last year I knew someone who went to council and just got directions from them, but this year Ive been using the sites information. Anyone know where I could get directions? I guess we'll know for sure about them when the scouts pick a spot.

    Thanks,
    Jessica

I suppose by "home site" you mean "WelcomeHome.org"...I would hope so. WelcomeHere.org would be another good place to look. S.C.R.O.L.L. (SoCal Family Site) http://home.earthlink.net/~scrollinfo/ would be another good place to look. That's where I pulled the Spring Council dirrections from.

Where the Gathering will be in 2004

This year the North American Rainbow Gathering (hence referred to as the Gathering) will be California from July 1 - July 7, near the town of Madeline.

    Directions

From Madeline, go east on Blue Lake road to Patterson-Sawmill road (Long Valley road) follow signs to Patterson Meadow, continue eastward to Homestead Meadow (parking area). Welcome Home!!! There is also a suggestion to avoid county Rd 64, which is loaded with logging trucks, and could be accident prone. The current weather at Bear Camp Flat is very cold and raining mixed with snow. Please, anyone considering coming home at this time, be prepared, good shelter, warm clothes and adequate foot wear.

Spring Council is asking all kitchens to bring at least 200' feet of black 3/4 inch hose line. Hawker is recommending 500' of 3/4 black pipe, one 3/4 to 3/4 splice, 1 3/4 barb to 1/2 inch female NPT fitting and one 1/2 female faucet and hose clamps. Also helpful to tap the spring is a 2 1/2 g bucket with a 1g coffee can inside and a bunch of cheese-cloth and/or plastic screening. Also needed are plenty of 55g and larger food grade water containers with spigots on the bottom. Pictures of the kind of line needed can be found at Black Pipe Example Additional information on the water system used to purify water for this year is here. Clean water helps keep us all healthy! A PayPal account has been opened by Hawker to help cover the cost of the filters, and other expensive parts that need replacement every year.

This is in the southernmost end of the Modoc national forest.

Here are some more specifics for road finding. Blue lake road is called Clarks Valley road in the town of Madeline. Heading east of Madeline about 15 miles the road splits off again with Clarks valley road turning south east and Blue Lake road continuing on north east to patterson sawmill road.
