America is stuck in a rut of getting some of the least competent presidential candidates in a long time. Our political system is dying, and the parties are rotting away from the core out.
The Dali Lama is an enlightened king without a kingdom.

I think i see a way out of this.
We need to do what they did in the olden days and send away for our leaders if noone in the country is good enough. Think about it, the Dali Lama would be an awesome president.
It would do wonders for our image around the world and might even help america become more compassionate and enlightened. That and china would shit itself....

Yeah man, good concept. I've always thought a native american would be a good and just choice for president, depending on the individual of course.

The Dalai Lama was the leader of a slave society ruled by a few land owners. It was basically a feudal society. People of the lower castes were treated as "untouchables", and were considered "talking animals".

How would you feel if you had to obey a man's order throughout your life, being treated like a worthless pig by a man who lives like a parasite, upon your labor?

The Chinese liberation of the exploited masses brought women liberation, education, and modernization to the country. Don't believe anything you hear from the CIA or the US government.

Isn't the great leap forward credited with killing more people than WWII?

I wrote essays on this in school. I don't remember the reasoning but I remember the conclusions which were that, though the four (or was it five) year plans in the USSR were a limited success (ie they cost a lot in human suffering but essentially achieved their goals) the great leap forward was a flop. Tons of people starved to death as they tried and failed to modernize, though this was partly due to adverse weather conditions - floods and stuff. I think that's what I concluded. It was a long time ago.
