Hi Joe ~ anxiety and panic attacks are residual symptoms of cannabis sativa 'poisoning', likewise paranoia and auditory hullucinations. It takes about 5 years clean & healthy living for the symptoms to self-resolve (if they are not too severe). The results are well worth the effort.

That being said, Terence McKenna (the psilocybin guru) reckons that hallucinogenics are of therapeutic value for people with said symptoms by allowing deeper, more percveptively complete understandings of the nature of self and reality, and psychedelic users fall away from repetetive behaviours such as drug/alcohol useage.

IMHO ~ I feel that the psychadelic experience should be entered into for reasons of deepening personal understandings of existence. Call that 'spiritual' if you will. It should never be jsut a 'fun' thing to do.
I believe (like McKenna) that nature has provided all that is necessary for ever-expanding understanding and development of intellect and consciousness. The reasons for which we use natures precious gifts determines that way that they treat us. That is why you hear so many conflicting stories, and why so many people get lost in the world of drugs and alcohol ~ because it's being done for no good and known reason.
