Ok, I've been to a lot of shows, but this time it will be different. We normally drive our car-- packed full of stuff-- but for Bonnaroo we are backpacking it. We're flying to TN and just taking all we can carry in and on our framed backpacks and tent. Later when we meet up with our buds we'll be stopping at walmart for food and bottled water and ice, etc.
Sooooo... what are some essentials we HAVE to bring with us?? I have already started a list, but I don't want to miss anything!! I was a Girl Scout and I live by "Always be prepared!"
    Help! :)
Thanks to all you kind souls that will give me ideas!!

Gatorade or some type of sports drink also. Too much water is bad for you in the heat as it does not replenish alot of nutriets.

well, you should think about getting some good lightweight equipment.. most importantly a good, light tent, quick & light sleeping bag, tiny little camp stove and fuel, tarp, a few basic tools - knife, saw, screwdriver, etc.. of course your cooking utensils and cup/spork/knife.. go for small and easily packable with minimal space. Sunscreen (especially at bonaroo).. headlamp.. water purifier if you are going packing long.. lightweight sleeping pad if you like the extra comfort.. baby wipes.. waterproof matches.. first aid kit..

and you know, really everything you will need. It's easy to make a pack way too heavy when backpacking, the key is lightweight equipment and packing smart. Don't take too much food, don't take fresh fruits and such.. go for trail mix.. nuts and mixed dry fruit, instant soups, oatmeal, dried beans, and "just add water" - one dish meals.

Pack most everything in ziplock bags inside your pack - just in case. Not only does it keep your stuff from getting damp or waterlogged but you can use them as trash bags when you cook and stuff. Be prepared indeed... and don't bring any cotton clothes!

Keep things to a bare minimum but don't underpack.. don't forget a rain poncho for you and your pack..

Too much water is only bad for you if you don't eat some salty snacks at the same time to replenish your electrolytes. I'm not sure what I can add to this list, you guys seemed to have covered the essentials. But don't forget the rolling papers! ;)

Good point, I'm pretty sure flamable materials of any kind are not allowed on airplanes. Better try to find a camping supply store in the general area of the festival to pick it up there. I think sharp tools are ok as long as they're in your checked luggage and not carried on, I'm not positive though.
