You can buy special drill bits made especially for drilling in glass. They arent too expensive. But you have to go really slow when drilling the glass or you can break it.
You use a diamond bit. That's why they are so expensive. They're not that much though. More than buying a storebought bong, but at least you can do it several times once you have the bit.
use any type of hardened bit. go very slow. i would try to take about 4 minutes to go through 1/8th inch of glass. take your time. you may even want to etch in an outline of your hole, it it starts to crack it will have a chance to stop there, of course there is a chance that the etching will crack it. or you could heat it up fairly uniformly with a low flame, the heat up the spot you want the hole at a bit more, then stick a super hot piece of glass on it and pull, the shape the hole it makes with some graphite.
Try A little oil while you drill to, I heard that works. But most importantly just go hella slow. ~mike
if your tryin to use your parents drill to drill through a piece of glass, you probably aren't going to have very good results. Unless your dads hella into power tools and has a phat drill (ha ha) your prolly not gonna do to well.
