So how come there are two different ways of spelling it anyways? And why does "hippie" seem to be the prefered spelling?
According to http://dictionary.reference.com hip·pie also hip·py n. pl. hip·pies A person who opposes and rejects many of the conventional standards and customs of society, especially one who advocates extreme liberalism in sociopolitical attitudes and lifestyles. hippy n : someone who rejects the established culture; advocates extreme liberalism in politics and lifestyle [syn: hippie, hipster, flower child]
ie for me I'm also a hitchhiker (not a hitch-hiker) I have a favourite colour and I see a school of fish (v. fishes)
From previous experiances, and my for purposes of refering to my screenname on aim, I beleive the spelling is hippie. Perhaps we could have a toke off, winner chooses spelling?
I always use Hippie and relate it to Yippie... maybe I'm just making unneccessary comparisons, I don't know.
