i didn't watch it...i saw about 5 seconds of a wheelie bin eating some guy...and i thought "i'm glad i'm not watching this"...my brother and my dad liked it tho...apparently it's sort of a spoof but still trying to keep it real...

um yes, panasonic perhaps? i kinda liked it.

it was spoof and maybe humourous. the plastics represent the plastics in 'mean girls'.....i reckon...

I liked it .. the whole anti war pro war thing that was kinda was subtle.. Thinking wich side or who the doctor represented or what he believed in...was kinda intresting.

The whole boyfriend thing with rose did not work.. a strong 'feisty girl' with a complete drip mmmm i don't think so.

    It will get better

The plastics i think were about oil ?? and our use of it in everything we do..and how one day it will destroy us or the people that control it will ??

Or it had nothing to do with that at all :p .

I thought it was pretty terrible. It was more like an episode of Grange Hill than Doctor Who. It was clearly aimed more at kids than adults, which was never true of the original. The thing that bugged me the most was that whenever the BBC pitches anything at kids, it seems to think it's necessary to patronise them. Hello! Children can be intelligent too! They don't need to have silly characters and stupid dialogue. Rose's boyfriend being an excellent case in point. Fine, he's a wimp. Fine, he's boring. But why not play it straight? Why the need for the stupid 'humour'? It's not that I don't think humour has a place in Doctor Who, just not the patronising pre-school variety.

Having said all that, some elements worked quite well. Some of the humour was even mildly amusing. In fact, the show has promise. It all depends on whether it slides further downhill into a childish parody of its original self, or whether it decides to explore some of the more interesting and engaging elements that might make it a little more watchable.

I think for its target audience it was great..it was not patronising and did have a little to say about something ..

From the synopsis of all the episodes i have read it does sound like it will get better..

The boyfriend thing is the only thing that bothered me, he ruined it. I have seen him before and his acting was much better..

I am no Doctor who fanatic (i save that for star trek)...But the original and following series had there crap bits as well, especialy the films they were all crap..

If by that you mean kids, well.... no, I still think it was crap.

So you don't think that expecting people to find burping wheely bins funny is a little patronising then?

I certainly hope so. I'll be giving it a fair chance.

He was certainly the worst aspect for me.

    Yup. No argument there.

Wow, I posted this yesterday and already got so many replies? There must be quite a few fans here :)

In keeping with Dok's points, did anybody notice how the first episode seemed to centre on Rose rather than the Doctor? I can't actually remember much of the original series, but I'm sure the Doctor was a slightly more prominent character. I guess that could change though, since they'd have to introduce Rose first.

I am sure they always had 'introduction' episodes..this series is only on for 8 episodes so a lot has to be packed in.. i am glad they got it out the way..

    Fair enough.

hahaha i forgot that bit..that was stupid. I get what what you mean with that, nope i did not find it funny but some person under 10 would i am sure. It did take away from what i wanted to get out of it, but hey its trying to please how many diffrent people ?.

I laughed at that! There's nothing wrong with finding that amusing in the least.

I think you must constitute the 'target audience'.

mmm the doctor is way tasy way way way tasty:p burping bins maybe ironic child humour? perhaps. hum. i laughed lots at the north 'joke'.
    "every planet has a north"
the doctor could have had more hair though...that would have made him cuter. and less 'hard mancunian' .

i think that the first episode was very typical first episode. he managed to solve the whole problem in about 30 minutes and there was a little story line but not enough to make it complicated enough to follow on to the next episode.

personally, i think they should have made the Doctor more mysterious and made everything a little wierder and cooler instead of the lame jokes.
