whats the difference?? i wanna become a vegetarian because i think that animals are just as equal as humans in this world. I will still eat some fish though...
geee...I would have thought all these guys would have jumped in to "educate" you.lol. vegan=someone who consumes no animal products, wears no animal products, and tries to steer clear of animal products of any type.though it's actually impossible to be 100% vegan unless you live naked in a cave,filter-feeding,and walk wherever you go.But you have to commend people for trying their best. vegetarians=people who dont eat meat(including fish)but can be broken into a couple of catagories... lacto/ovo veggies=people who do not consume the flesh of animals but still eat eggs and dairy..and thngs like jello and honey. pescatarians=dont eat the flesh of land/air dwelling animals but will eat creatures of the aqua.they dont really count as vegetarians as you are not supposed to eat any meat. hope that helps!
Yeah, cynical_otter pretty much described it Basically, vegetarians don't eat any flesh, or anything that had to kill an animal to make the food, like gelatin. Some vegetarians wear leather etc, some don't. I personally don't. Vegans don't eat anything that comes from an animal, like dairy, eggs and honey. Technically if you are still going to eat fish you're not a vegetarian as you're still eating flesh, but eating just fish is still better than eating meat and fish As otter said, you could be known as a pescatarian. Summer. xx.
Yeah Otter beat us to it. Guess I was too busy having a life or something My personal definition is [not eating] anything that given half a chance would get away. Why pray tell me are you still going to eat fish? Last time I checked they don't grow on trees (ergo are animals too) Tell me why and I'll err 're-educate' you TTFN Sage
hey now. I'll admit my life is less then exciting and all....well..ok..unless you count the animal impressions from my kids and battling dust bunnies..my life is downright boring. see what happens? just look at my signature.
Reggae-girl, that makes you a pescatarian, which doesn't mean you're a vegetarian, it's better than eating all sorts of meat, though. I hope that helped you, at least a little bit, Borut
I'd add that vegan is more to the lifestyle end of the spectrum. It's looking at more than the plate. Check out the vegetarian resource group for more info. www.vrg.org
i'm a vegeterian but not completely vegan. the only thing that makes me not a vegan is the cheese. i love my cheese do they make soy cheese?..?? then i could go vegan! i dont eat any meat, eggs, fish, don't drink milk and i always check the ingredients of stuff on the side of the box just to make sure they didnt slip anything in there!
whats wrong with eating animal products as long as the animal isnt harmed, like milke and butter and stuff, if u have ur own milk cow and be nice to it and all its not harmed.
Nature: nothing wrong with your OWN cow. except for slaughtering the calves. Really the main complaint is with treatment. I question if humans have a right to use animals for anything in a mechanized society. If one wants to get back-to-the-land and use oxen for plowing and such, OK, that sustainability is good with me. Maybe not others, but I look out for the planet first.
I'm vegan. I have been since I was 14. Go to the American Dietetic website and type "vegetarian" in the search box. It wll take you to this paper that is actually a summary of 44 different studies done to prove the facts of the vegetarian and vegan diet. It explains that the vegan diet is perfectly healthy for every age and stage of life.
