Anyone seen it, read the book, or heard the soundtrack? I'm absolutely in love with the music and the book isn’t too shabby either. I want so badly to see it on Broadway, maybe I will someday!

I'm sad that the original Elphiba (the wicked witch) has left the show :(

Okay in a nut shell it's about how the "Wicked Witch of the West" became how we knew her in The Wizard of Oz.

The musical was based on a book by Gregory Maguire called Wicked:The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West. You should read it... it's pretty groovy

I think I should add that if you read the book or see the musical you will not view her as being "wicked" just misunderstood. You will actually like her better than you will Glinda the Good Witch who is a snooty little rich girl.

...The two actually share a room at a University

Idina Menzel, the original Elphaba, was amazing. and so was Galinda, played by Kristen Chenowith (Oy, I butchered her last name!) Anyhoo, It was amazing. The look on Idina's face during "Popular" was hilarious, and the Love scene during "As Long as You're Mine" (Yay! Norbert Leo Butz is God!) was beautiful. I can't wait to see it with the touring cast. Not Idina, but still good.
