I for one am happy that she's not in pain any more.

What makes me angry is that we treat our pets with more respect when they are terminally ill than we do each other. No one should have to starve to death.

    I didn't do it! I swear!

But it is so ridiculous...we'll humanely "put down" our animals if we don't want to feed them anymore...but we have to let humans starve to death...and the irony...that T. Schiavo died by starving to death, when trying to starve herself is what put her in this situation in the first place...if they had just not revived her the first time, 15 years of pain and suffering could have been avoided...

People shouldn't fear death...People fearing death is why the world is over populated today, IMHO....And since when is quantity of life more important than QUALITY OF LIFE...I just don't get some people...

not even going into my personal opinion on the situation, NO ONE that posts here had anything to do with it, and I highly doubt God is going to wreak havoc on the world. ;)

Personally, I don't think God was very happy with people keeping a woman with absolutely no hope of ever leading a normal life again artificially alive for 15 years.

I completely agree with the other posters who commented on how she died. I don't think it was right to let her starve to death. I don't feel comfortable with that thought at all, it certainly doesn't make me feel happy in the least, but I feel that it was cruel to let her go on as she did for 15 years as well.

The poor woman is finally at peace.

Well the church has no business butting in. Its approach to many issues is mixed and sometimes downright wrong.. Plus it has the luxury of being able to be re interpreted re aligned and generaly played with till it is 'correct'... so bollocks i don't care who you want to 'blame'..it was a awful dicision for some one to make..and i am sure not done lightly.

Well put... thats exactly it... Its a shame that they starved her to death... But the Quality of Life she was living was horrible too... Now she can rest in peace...

You bet your ass she did..
Doctors can save that she felt no pain and thats a bunch of shit..
when you starve to death, there will always be pain...

I think its ridiculous what happened and how her husband can go on living with himself and his girlfriend that hes living with, the dumb piece of shit...

Apparently she did feel the pain, she was moaning in distress so much that the doctors gave her morphine over the weekend. Also having brain damage does not permit one from feeling.

What's happened to Terri since her collapse?

The Second District's first opinion in this case explained:

Since 1990, Theresa has lived in nursing homes with constant care. She is fed and hydrated by tubes. The staff changes her diapers regularly. She has had numerous health problems, but none have been life threatening.

Over the span of this last decade, Theresa's brain has deteriorated because of the lack of oxygen it suffered at the time of the heart attack. By mid 1996, the CAT scans of her brain showed a severely abnormal structure. At this point, much of her cerebral cortex is simply gone and has been replaced by cerebral spinal fluid. Medicine cannot cure this condition. Unless an act of God, a true miracle, were to recreate her brain, Theresa will always remain in an unconscious, reflexive state, totally dependent upon others to feed her and care for her most private needs.
In a later opinion in the same case, the Second District further explained:

Although the physicians are not in complete agreement concerning the extent of Mrs. Schiavo's brain damage, they all agree that the brain scans show extensive permanent damage to her brain. The only debate between the doctors is whether she has a small amount of isolated living tissue in her cerebral cortex or whether she has no living tissue in her cerebral cortex.

I still am unsure..but i don't think its a hguge point. Did she bring the whole thing on herself , did she get beat up by her husband ?

A severly brain damaged woman was allowed to die gracefully.

I wouldn't like to live in that situation... her husband said she wouldn't either... and she definitely wouldn't wanted to have been paraded around on TV for some bullshit pro-life agenda.

Bush wouldn't come back from his ranch after a fucking tsunami kills tens of thousands, but if one chick in Florida starves, it might compromise his status with the fucking religious right.

    Hypocritical bullshit.

I think its fucked up that they put all that media on her and the decision should have been made by the family and the doctors.
