I love this man and his films. Everytime I think about him I feel sad and angry that he is no longer around. Planes, trains and Automobiles is my favourite film ever and I love Uncle Buck and the rest. Just think of what he could have done had he not passed away so terribly young. The world misses him.

    Haha,

Everytime I think of John Candy, I think of the worst boss I ever had who looked exactly like him.

Ironic that your nasty boss should look like one of the most loved actors ever. Your boss sounds anything other than cuddley

Can anyone remember hearing that he had died? I heard it on the radio and I was devastated. It felt like the loss of a relative. Perhaps because he seemed like everyones uncle Buck, an uncle that made us laugh.

He was a great actor. I love Uncle Buck. I remember being little and seeing that movie and wishing I had a cool uncle like that. Cool Runnings was a good movie too.

Yes, Planes, Trains and Automobiles is a phenomenally good movie. It's John Hughes, right? Well, no wonder, then. He's made some amazing films, as an amazing director.

The first time I saw PT&A, I was in England during college. I think I did indeed see it around Thanksgiving time, too. That was neat.

I think that one of the best parts is right near the end when the truth comes out, in the train station. Oh man, how that can make ya cry...

Yeah, the worst SCTV episode is still better than the best post-'80s SNL episode, hands-down.

SNL at this point is an abysmally bad, unfunny show. Has been for over a decade or two. I remember in '89 thinking how awful it was.

I love John Candy's films for the most part!

That scene in Planes, Trains And Automobiles where him and Steve Martin wake up snuggling in bed together.. :p Classic.

The Great Outdoors also.. "Big Bear! Big Bear.. chase... me"

    Ahh, good times.

I remember him playing the bobsled coach in "Cool Runnings," and I thought he was very good.
