So i can write music and lyrics and play guitar and everything only problem is I can't really sing, like REALLY can't sing. Is it possible to learn? Johnny Rotten (Sex Pistols) couldn't sing ...could i get away with it too? I guess i can kinda stay in tune but really is there any easy way to learn? is this a problem for any other people? or do you just go out there and do it! AAAGHH! NEED HELP!
Umm, some people can learn to sing in tune, and some can't. I know it came naturally to me, but for others it takes practice. You should definately just get out there, and get used to singing in front of people. There's no point in caring about what other people think. Some people can get away with not being able to sing, but I'm sorry to say, that's rarely the case for girls. Just try singing along with songs, and try to match the note of the vocalists. That's all the advice I can give. Good luck .
this is just a guess, but perhaps you think you cant sing very well because you just think that you have a rotten voice, and your shy about it. This is just from my experience, but i always thought i had a terrible voice, but slowly i started singing more and more with songs and while playing guitar, and soon enough i accepted my voice and didnt care what others thought. And if your worried about the quality of your voice, it really shouldnt be that big of a deal as long as you are singing on key.
Okay, you can have some more talent . . .but I'll have to charge you for a shipping and handling fee depending on where you live.
maybe its just the style of singing that isnt suiting you you might not be able to sing gospel, but you might be able to sing metal that may not apply to you, but you get the idea
if you can sing IN TUNE then like if you want to make your voice stronger or be able to hit high notes and make it sound like crap do this..... Just imagine that you have a huge space the size of a grapefruit in your throat. It really works it opens your throat up allowing you to get more, better sound out. If you want to hit higher notes also just tighten your throat while opening it. lol that doesnt make sense. But "do ya catch my drift?"
thanx so much for the advice guys! i really agree that girls can't get away with a bad voice as often as guys but I guess courtney love did it only she kinda sings punk.. thats the best genre to get away with it in *sigh*. But thanx for the help! peace!
I don't necessarily think you need talent if you have enough creativity & balls. Perry Farrel of Jane's Addiction - doubles (triples, quadruples?) his voice so many times you can't tell that he absolutely sucks. Well, yeah you still can. Ozzy - does the same thing, but more scientifically. Janis Joplin - doesn't do anything to her voice, sounds awful, but well... she's Janis Joplin
Lots of the greats couldnt sing to save their lives.. Singing ability isn't as important as confidence. If your singing sucks, make it sound as if you MEAN for it to sound that way!
learning to sing comes harder to some than others, practise is the key to overcoming it. Taking lessons is one way, and some of what they will tell you to do is: Learn what you can and cant do, build a warmup routine and learn to breathe properly. Stand if front of a door or wall and sing - you can hear yourself better, even if it looks odd to someone watching. Once you get a riff or two that you feel good about, record it and hear it. Pick one or two songs and work on them untill you can do them well. Keep listening to others, and working on your own. Even people who sing really well feel they have alot to learn and work on! Or there is always the other route, crossroads in mississippi somewhere, gris gris bag, or some other mojo. Me, I was given magic beans by jesus, which I promply ate, to improve my blues. good luck!
sing from your diaphram! when you inhale, you should physically feel your lungs expand and then put you hand on your abs and push in as you sing. The sound should be a lot stonger. A lot of singers who think that they can't sing do this and find this voice that comes outta no where!
