I met a woman on the big island some years ago,and everyone called her "swami mommy",self proclaimed garbage guru...Does anyone else know of this person? We used to do yoga and she taught me about recycling and rainbow garbage, metal paper glass etc...is she still around?I have several "om's" tattoed on my body, alias "the Om lady".Anyone?
Saw Swaimi Mommi in MT 2000, haven't been to a National since; but that sis spreads lots of good things about recycling.
Dear Hippiestead, Thankyou for responding...yeah she is great had alot of good energy, and did'nt mind keepin the circle goin!Anyone else ?
I'm surprised you haven't gotten more responces by now. Have you looked around the site to see what kind of postings might have to do with recycling? I think there might be a whole forum about recycling & you might have better luck if you run a thread in that space.
I have not even seen her as recently as '00, but I didn't get to MT till the afternoon of the 7th. I missed a lot of folks that year. She must be getting on in years, now. Wouldn't surprise me to find out that she had passed on, as we have lost so many in the last few years...Or am I just getting to the age where I see more funerals than weddings? The whole clean-up movie has changed, partly because she's not as active at Gatherings, and partly because, now, just about every little community in the Country has some kind of recycling program. Individual kitchens are less likely now to have their own "Recycling Stations" than they were. Walk up to some kitchen with a Snickers Bar wrapper, and ask them for their "Recycling Station," and you will likely be told to take your Snickers Bar wrapper back to your car, and, perhaps, be asked "What part of 'Pack it In, Pack it Out' do you not understand?"
Yeah, bro, the movie has changed somewhat. We had recycling at the kitchen in MT and a recycling troll to make sure it was done right but we had to shut down the kitchen on the 6th because someone e-coli-ed the water jugs because they were too lazy(?) to go to the spring (they scooped up creek water instead, not that the spring was that much farther than the creek). Just talked to another 'old family' folk & we miss the workshops. Lots of the elders just don't have the energy anymore & the kids aren't picking up the ball. And yeah, we've been losing lots of folks to the plains beyond; it's very sad. We have no choice but to keep on goin' & shinin' the light.
What is it that the newer kids are missing? What is it that the elders have that the children don't? i've been wondering this since i came to rainbow, the elders all have such strong energy and great feelings wrapped around them and the children just have a great feel of love, what is it that we're missing
the children will grow to be elders someday .the light of there love will guide them along the way.we were all children when first started down the rainbow road. so watch and grow . we are all rainbows
"Throughout History, the Older Generation has spoken of the Younger Generation as if they have never had anything to do with them." ---I don't remember who said it originaly, but it wasn't the W.T. Don't quote me on this.
'Sister Flowers' suck, but it's not all females, bro. Cinnamom is a woman of creature comforts; I want my T.P., but I carry a baggie to put it in (for those rare emergencies where a latrine isn't available or is just too gross). I pocket my butts too. Asking moms to teach their kid to 'use nature' might not be the best idea, either; kids can confuse some weeds with poison ivy & some kids can get poison ivy from just being close to it. Better to stick with PLEASE DON'T LEAVE TRASH IN THE WOODS!!!!!!!!!!!!
hey , i understand it's not all females but it's only female and of those - females who are unfamiliar with soft -leafed wild plants like mule's ear and mullein ? those plants have absolutely no resemblance to poison ivy . the sophistication of harmony with nature and simplicity is always our necessity , eh ? issue . oops , somebody sneezed . issue ! ishOO . ranbO!
Ah, Cinnamom has seen other evidence of unkind tolieting in the woods, and not dog either; hard to tell who leaves those. And this female is a city girl, my kitchen has promised me the throne of thrones next time I make it Home. Unbleached hemp tissue is fine by me, but I'm not the type who wanders among any weeds; I'm a trail only girl & ya gotta leave the trail edges alone or there's irrossion issues. I'm thinking, bro, but I still gotta be me; even do the composting toliet at home, and we follow lots of earth happy ways always.
I use toilet paper, but I also use shitters. If I don't use the shitter I don't use toilet paper. I smoke filter less cigarttes. I just met a guy that uses toilet paper when he pees, funny that. Water works OK if theres something to dry off with. I dunno man, my hackles raise when someones like, "why do sisters always do this" or "why do brothers always have to do that" Your making some pretty wide generalizations.
Us too! Rainbow isn't about all folks thinking exactly the same; boxes in the unboxable Rainbow world bug us. Now, can we get back on track with this thread, please. Has anyone seen Swami Mommi lately???
If this thread goes anywhere I am looking for Swami Mommy too, I befriended her at the Texas gathering about ...holy smokes ummm...1989 maybe? I would love to find her again....
