Disaster struck !!! what appears to be downy mildew has infected three plants. the males were removed-most breeding will be aborted ..two selected males were kept for now, but The open pollenation is canceled . the infected plants were removed and sprayed with soapy water- showing hundreds of tiny grey dots underneath the leaves where affected. tomorrow a sunlight inspection will reveal more im sure. the humidifier will be turned off at night now- and im cranking the cold air back up at night too. 20 females and 2 males made it through this first round. Hope thats all. tiedye
They are outside looking better, maybe sunshine will cure the disease long enough to get some cuttings from the male. he was the best male i have had. But i seem to keep improving the branching, so i'll have better ones soon. got a little mutant hashplant pheno male, a recombined one. And i kept the christmas candy pheno too.
one more went out this morning ,and another this afternoon. The ones that were growing slow it seemed.... Seems like the rest are still growing as fast as they should, for a slow growing drug strain.... im thinking the rest may be fine. i noticed it in time im hoping. The 5 affected plants are outside, maybe kelp and sunshine will cure thier diseases, i think that would build the resistance. it seems the more closer to pure indica phenos are being struck downy. {edit} I did some searching for info, and of course the advanced nutrients site came up with info.... DEF.. downy mold.Piranha kills it. Woopiee! I guess i'll be running to modesto to get some pirhana tomorrow A.s.a.p. Might save my breeders yet, but i'll have to breed the clones ,with all that these are going through. My best male is outside, stripped of all it's shade leaves. Thank god i been studying hard ,and calling around for prices and availability,I just found the whole line of advanced nutes at another hydro store, one closer than mine is even... georges book says nothing cures downy mildew except chemicals. icchh ever try pirhana george? Im sure going to.....anyone?this might make interesting study. i think i caused the prolem with a humidifier, running it on high with my fans on the controller. Which runs til about midnight... Im shutting off the humidifier at dusk (OUR TIME) now, and might not run it at all till the pirhana have been applied and dried. This strain was developed for drought resistance in the beginning, and was holding well at 15-30% humidity. i been trying to keep it up to 35- 40% in the day lately. They were looking really healthy, but growing a bit slow, and then wham.
it was staying between 15% and 35 % humidity, before i got the humidifier. I might not use it anymore, until i get a humistat in there. Might not really need it unless im doing a cycle of tropical strains...These plants going now are drought resistant anyways. But would cool mist be better? if i end up actually needing one...
Humidity is staying up without the humdifier. It was probably only nessesary for the chilly winter months when it was 60 outside. even a 90% humidity at 60 degrees is nothing once you warm up the air inside, the humidity dropps dramatically. Now that it is warm outside, the humidity from nature will be sufficent. PIRANHA PIRANHA PIRANHA those little fuckers might be invisible but, Spraying soap on the mold-ivory- the undersides would dicolor and turn grey where affected- the next day it would be fuzzy and rolling again. Piranha was applied at dusk, only to the affected ones outside though. I used 1/2 the recomended dose for a quart of foiliar spray, but added it to only 24 ounces of water. The fungal spots are black now, and halted or actually seemingly diminished from yesterday. ALL new spreading HAS HALTED. I haven't sprayed the growroom yet, but the ones outside seem to have a glow to them, like when you wash long hair with really expensive conditioner. PIRANHA is the shit, im always gonna have some laying around- it doen't take much to mix a bottle of spray- i used 1/2 teaspoon in 24 ounces of water. I was looking at losing 5-10 plants, and possibly the entire crop. now im looking at not being able to use any affected ones for breeding. I got a mutant= that was tiny and shrivelled, like a blueberry, and it exploded like one. it has the extreme indica pheno im wanting to cultivate most anyways. I'll just breed it with my chosen mom from the same basic phenotype. I have at least 1 dozen sprouts between two weeks and still popping. 22 females over a foot tall ,and solid branching throughout- going into 12 12. Three moms in the veg area, and 50 more seeds popping in the veg area. 5 afghani x hasher* 5 fast? X hasher* 5 nycd 5 mexi-hashplant (possibly columbian red} 5 stinkyxthai 10 mexi-chron 10 mutant afghani x hasher* 5 stinky x mutant afghani * these are the next test of the backwards hermie theory, these were not seeds made from backcrossing to a sibling**-These were all outcross seeds, so they should be 70% to 90% female. Special thanks to M.G. for helping me sort all this out. **{yes the hermie problem was exclusive of this one sibling cross- all those seeds are seperately collected now- hermies begat hermies- i'll probably make oil from the hermie seeds. Or use them to try introducing an area to cannabis.} Today the seeds began TO SPROUT, 10 are up today. Gonna go throw some pirana in the growroom now.the seedlings from the OLD batch carry boytritis. my michrrizae was just dust in the jar- time for piranha.
Yeah the damge has completely stopped at the point it was when i sprayed the piranha. It's amazing stuff.. but more than likely the only product I will buy from advanced nutes, ever. L.O.L. the pureblend/ powerflower mixing chart from botanicare has all the same ingredients as advanced, but a total organic/ or natrally chleated mined mineral product. Humus, agrimeneral 72 for trace. pureblend organic soil mixture is the shit, but it requires building a rhioshphere in the soil.... The pirhana and fresh soil mixes should do it. I think i'll mostly use it in my wormbeds, to make sure the right microbes permeate my castings.Keep some around for spritzing fungal enemys.. im real happy- 42 bucks well spent on 4.5 ounces of piranha. it saved the crop, but i wont breed with the affected ones ,in case it was viral from whiteflys.
tiedye, can you sent up a link to the piranha so I can take a look at what it is made up from?? Thanks bro. b1
Actually it is benificial microbes,8 species of trichoderma, and 16 species of michorrizae. the trichoderma hazadenum (forgive spelling) means certain death for almost any fungus cannabis will encounter. here you go. It is listed under dr hornby in the nute section. http://www.advancednutrients.com/new2/homeframe.html
A 6x9 bedroom but it's springtime here as well. Actally that is what it takes to be perpetual, quite a few. As to variety, I am enjoying the variety in this f2 cross i call stinky. There are various smells to each phenotype. Banana, orange, skunk, blueberry, hash, and a stinky pheno ,smells like the parent f1 . one sorta smells like some strange fruit. the skunk and blueberry smell the strongest, good thing i got a carbon filter, gotta re-hook it in though- I stole the duct for my 1,000 watt. My usb cable was sent for, gotta check the mail soon.
I have been drawing up plans for a basement, under the house I plan to build soon. The total area will be 36x 50, with a 10-12 foot ceiling, and i'll put a modular home over it. So i can work on the basement, instead of spending time building a house. But i'll be able to run central air and heating , with hospital grade 1/2 minute /per ? curculation. 5- 8x10 breeding areas 2 11x12 budrooms a 14x20 vegitation area an 11x 16 preflower room- to spot hermies in preflower mode. a 16x11 cloning seedling area. and a 8x20 curing room, all rooms will have seperate thermosats and humidstats.
sure can but in a nutshell- michorrizae and trichoderma- soil and plant microbes. research the trichoderma hazadenum most of aLL, IT strangles most fungi to death directly, and bio-organicly. this is the future- mollasses you can pay big $ for catalyst and/or carboload product, most liokely two produts to do something mollasses from a feed store does. use it with piranha- it will feed your soil. feed the soil- not just the plants. here you go http://www.advancednutrients.com/new2/index.html go to dr hornby link under nutrients. There you will find piranha. Tarantula is worth it's salt as well. ALSO, There is a disease section under the grow info ,that is very interesting . been busy sorry it took so long. tiedye
