who do you guys think is the most recent, "best thing to happen to music", breakthrough artist? i mean, there was the beatles, hendrix, etc. but who do you think is the most recent, or a band/artist you could see as being very influencial and groundbreaking in the future?

Sadly enough, I cant think of anyone recent that did anything I liked. I would have to go back a bit to when Lamb of God first started to put stuff out. Also, Kyuss had some really cool things and after John Garcia went to Unida, that was one good thing that happened to music. But in the end, I would have to say that the MOST recent best thing that happened to music is:

    CREED FINALLY BROKE UP!!!!!

I'm just gonna say what seems to be the consensus for the most part and say The White Stripes. Don't particularly dig em myself, but they're causing the biggest racket it seems.

Hilary Duff?!?!?!? Hell... If I've to go with something recent I'd say that there is nothing too good coming out. I've to listen to Velvet Revolver yet, but my hopes ain't high...

    Peace Out.

im not sure how recent you mean by 'recent', but i'm gonna have to say No Doubt, because their music is always being praised by fans and critics, and they've already got the iconic front person and everything.
and probably the white stripes too, just because they really did bring back good rock n roll , and brought a few good bands in with them.

The White Stripes, there the best.
And, I hate to admit it, but Outkast is probably the best r'nb, or rap (whatever you call it) out there. Even though that I'm not into that kind of music. They have some pretty good tunes.
I also enjoy The Datsuns and The Rapture, there nothing new. But there good...

Oh, and not that its a new thing, but I am really glad the beastie boys are making a bit of a return. .........Now I wait for another Tool album and a new bjork album. Their last ones both dropped in 2001 so it has almost been 3 years.........oh my god.....it HAS almost been 3 years! Whoa.
