I'm not going ... I made a half hearted attempt but gave up after about an hour

You have to have photo ID in the form of a new style photo driving licence which I haven't got or a Blunkett style "Citizen card" ... like I'm gonna do all that just for a festival.

Apparently passports will not be acceptable at the gate.

there is a festival in Holland called 'Lowlands' and that looks grand... that is also where Glasters got the idea for the silent disco :)

That's going to be a fiasco.

Blunkett: "Excuse me, can I see your card?"

The citizen cards aren't the new National ID cards with the biometric data. They're just proof of age cards like any other. There's not too much to worry about with them....

it was my birthday yesterday, and I sat there from 9am on the phone and online desperately trying to get my ticket. Alas, just as I was putting my booking form thing through online they sold out. I've never been and was so looking forward to it, grr. It wasn't the best of birthdays!

you should join us on msn and give one of the girls who is online a contact phone number ,because in other years they have released tickets from double bookings and such but you need to act quickly and have other people looking out for you .

I dont think half of us would be going if we hadnt worked as a group, mostly lucky kat got the tickets for everybody and working on your own you didnt have that much chance .

there are other festivals but the best way of getting to glastonbury is contacts, Im looking for tickets for my nephew and sister and in other years we have got people in after the main tickets sold out so dont give up hope

I think it's dead bad that glasonbury fest is complicit in promoting this ID card scheme. I don't like the proposed ID cards, as it's another excuse for the fuzz to pull you, effectively a return to the sus laws. Will it be mandatory to carry one? Will we be issued with producers, if we don't have it with us? Obviously there's nowt intrinsically wrong with a piece of plastic, with my name and details and photo on, but coupled with a data base containing anything naughty you may have done or people have said you have done. What demos, political activities your involved with and who knows what else. When ever the govt or cops want new powers, i can't help reflecting, they seem to be misusing the ones they've already got. Combined with new "anti terrorist" powers of detention, reduction of the right to trial by jury, getting rid of habius corpus principal, reduction of the number of points of similarity needed to match a fingerprint. ID cards are part of an assault on our liberties.
Thank you, thank you, who wants a second hand soapbox?
    peace and freedom

I think you've misunderstood Mr spejemelujai:)

The Citizen cards have been around for ages... they're an ID card for people to buy cigs and booze effectively... Glasto aren't backing the Governments ID Card Scheme as it hasn't even come in yet.

The strict ID rules are simply to stop touts ripping us all off...

Hello, what/where/when is beautiful days fest? I went to glast 3 times and had best funand luck wheni went as a penniless scuffer. Last time i went it did seem a little like the final solution of the hippies. This id card thing (see my rant above) is wack. It'll be chips inserted under the skin instead of wristbands this year.
Stop me if you think i'm getting a little paranoid.
