This is for us older guys.

    Whom, here remembers "The Band"?
You younger guys might know too. If so, answer!
Remember when certain songs weren't TV commercials?
We never thought they WOULD be?

THE LAST WALTZ is on TV today...what a film. And I've always enjoyed Robbie Robertson's work.

i love the band matt, but im only 16. I have their self titled (brown) album, the dylan/band live album before the flood, and the band's live album rock of ages. (and also a live dylan cd from 1966 with "the hawks" backing him). I dno why no1 really listens to them anymore they were awesome. And they were even more amazing with dylan, him and the band fuckin rocked like no others could. Hahaha yea "the weight" is on that stupid tv comercial now, my favorite song by them is "when you awake".

I am a big Robbie fan too. And I remember the Band, but not from when it was happening, I got into them later, in the early 80's.

The oldest music I remember being into while it was on the charts was John Denver in around 75. Then in 77 I got into Deep Purple, Judas Priest, AC DC, The Scorpions, VH, and Rush.

In my opinion they were the best folk rock band of the '60s, and they easily had the two best folk-rock albums of the late 60s with Music from the Big Pink and The Band.

I've also got Stage Freight, Cahoots, and The Basement Tapes (with Bob). They're awesome.

the Cadillac commercials these days crack me up (but good music). and Cingular wireless is jumping on the bandwagon too. guess us old school types are who they're aiming for, with our "old" music, and if you younguns recognize the music, you're the market too. guess that's just the way it is.

And yes, always loved the Band.

I love your personal quote! When "I" grow up, will you be one of my pall bearers? Becuase THAT'S when I'll grow up!

You don't have to be old to like The Band. I love listening to them. I only have Music from Big Pink though. When I was working the other day I seen a box set with The Last Waltz in it. I think I may buy it sometime soon.
