If youre gonna go as far as to wear flip flops then you might as well go barefoot at least then you dont have to worry about your shoes breaking at an inopportune time.

I went bare foot today, most of my day and i went to the park and played basketball with my friend, but here in illinois, it is still pretty cold so my feet would freeze. The grass felt so good, and when i would stand in one place for a while, my feet would get warm it was awsome. I just cant wait until i see more barefooters around here. Its a shame more people wont do it. I would not wear shoes to school or at least take them off, but i would just be sent home and probably get in trouble. wish it wasnt like that.
    Peace~

it's nice and wrm here in belgium , antwerp. So I went barefoot to the city and back , using the bus (they didn't complain) but I didn't see a single barefooter , exept two days ago, it just was me and my friend.
walking barefoot feels so free, and it's healthy for your first chakra

I dont think schools should do that for something so simple. Its a waste of time and energy. I wonder if these school officials ever consider that when they send kids home for trivial matters that they lose money for the time the student is actually "at" school and if theyre not there to get the proper education, it reflects badly on the teachers and the school.

I would like to ask them what they think is more important and less costly to whine about your barefeet all day and send you home or to actually get a backbone and not fuss about things that are none of their concern.

These teachers need to realize that youre the student and that theyre there to give you a proper education and for the most part you need to be there to get that education. I think beyond sickness or a severe disruption in the classroom there is very little if any reason why a student should need be sent home when they really belong at school getting the education they deserve.

I just asked my mom why we needed to were shoes in school, like why is it such a big deal? and she replied saying "becuz its very unsanitary. if someone has a foot disease or like athletes foot, or some thing on their feet ya know, you can easily get it. its just to not spread things around". i guess thats true but if it is, that sucks haha

Most foot fungus' tend to grow in dark, warm, moist areas. Shoes are the perfect incubator for this. I have not had athletes foot or any other type of fungus on my feet since I have been going barefoot. In fact, the only time I ever had a problem was when I was still in High School and wearing shoes. Probably, from taking a shower in gym class and then immediatly wrapping my feet in socks and shoes for the rest of the day.

Yay for barefoot music festivals! I've been to lots of them up in Northern California where there are over a dozen every summer.

About spreading germs or fungus by people going barefoot- it is scientifically proven that only people who wear shoes can spread athletes foot. It happens in locker rooms where people take their shoes off for short periods then put them back on. It is in the locker rooms where athlete's foot is transferred but it is inside of shoes where they incubate, grow, and take over the skin and toenails. The best way to prevent germ and fungus growth is by keeping the feet bare and dry. People who go barefoot all the time have zero incidence of athletes foot or other fungus growth. To prevent transfer of germs, wear flip flops in locker rooms and public bathrooms, then take them off, clean and dry them thoroughly, and go barefoot everywhere else. If everyone would go barefoot there would be no more athletes foot disease because the pathogen reservoir (i.e. shoes) would be eliminated.

Except for at the beach, I have never seen a single person barefoot outside their yard, I don't think Michigan is a shoeless society. People mostly wear shoes even through our meager 3 months of warm weather. I hate Michigan!

I've only seen two other people sporting bare feet; and it's not very often that they do. As soon as the weather stops being so unpredictable, I'll be barefoot constantly...

I saw a barefoot girl on the bus on the way home from work today. Pretty impressive as it's only 45 degrees now. I was barefooting when it was warm a couple of weeks ago, but it's cold now and I'm longing for it to get warm again. To make things worse, my flip-flops broke yesterday, so I'm having to wear actual shoes [IMG] I'm jealous of all of you who live where it's warm:mad: ;)

I took my dog for a walk today barefoot, and it was only 43. It's really not that bad, unless you keep thinking about it. It did help that it was sunny, so the sidewalk that was in the sun warmed my feet a bit, enough to deal with the shady areas (about half and half). The lawn was cold, and I walked through a lot of that (some areas with no sidewalk, and the school area...it was cold and I could have avoided all the grass, but i like walking through it because it feels nice).

45F isn't too cold for barefooting -I've barefooted all winter long, including in the snow. I'd not even consider shoes when it's not freezing. But yes, it is rare to see anyone else barefoot it at low temperatures... Only seen two or three barefooters in eight years, and all when it was considerably warmer.

MaryJeanne, did you paint that girl under the mushroom? That thing is AWESOME! I love the foreshortening of the legs. Great perspective!

(It'd be better if she was barefoot, though.)

I saw my neighbor come out to get something out of her car today, I only noticed cause she was sorta tip toeing along the sidewalk in a weird way. She was barefoot and you could tell it was totally unnatural for her. I swear if aliens ever came and stole everyones shoes one night, the world would come to a screeching halt and 99% of the people would be rendered helpless and unable to leave their homes. So there you have it, the easiest way to world domination is to just steal everyones shoes..........I say lets try it!
