I just bought a new patchy skirt from a talented mama over the internet but I received it today and because it isn't lined it's very see through. I know nothing about sewing......would I be able to line it myself (or maybe pay to have someone else do it) or would does that kind of thing have to be done in the making process? I don't want to ruin it or mess it up...if I have to I'll wear a slip I just hate to wear slips.

um, I'm not exactly sure what it your skirt looks like, but you could get a petticoat to wear under it. if you search in the patchwork clothes area on ebay there are often ones up there. it's not really like wearing a slip, it's more like wearing 2 spinny skirts. I make mine from muslin (really thin cotton) and I think that's what other people make them with, but I don't know for sure. I find it very comfortable...
    here, I found one

I didn't look very hard, you might be able to find one cheaper?

it really depends on the skirt, but it will most likley be pretty easy to line, what style is it?

You might be able to send it back to the person you bought it from and have them line it. They might charge you but if you have never sewn before it might be worth it.

The skirt is just a batiked cotton fabric with cordouroy patches down the sides....I'm sure it would be pretty easy to line but I'm a bit afraid to try to do it myself. I do have a petticoat for my skirts during the winter but it's too hot for me to wear now that the weather is getting warmer.........The bedsheet idea sounds like it would work pretty well......I might give that a go or rather send it back to her and ask her to line it for some more money, it needs to be hemmed a bit too. hmmmmm.......

~Thanks for all your suggestions everybody:D~

Id say get a slip or pettycoat for it!!! I saw the most awsome slip the otherday at the mall... It was for under prom dresses but it was soo big and flowy... I almost bought it i thought it would look great under a patchy skirt but I really needed to put my money elsewhere...
