you dont need to start a protest, just bring your own lunch :)

like.. lots of sandwich ideas, hummus and chips, make a sandwich out of a baguette and lots of veggies (the sandwich shop where my brother works, i make him bring me home sandwiches like that :D)

i dont know if youre vegan but if youre not you can make a cheese quesadilla or nachos, ooor diced fruit and a yogurt

this is real easy and delicious, if you eat dairy:
cut a pita pocket in half, so it's like a semi-circle, then split the pocket open.
spread goat cheese inside (spread! not crumbles)
toss in some chopped red peppers.

it's better than a pb&j, at least. or you can always switch the classic pb&j up and use almond butter, or use a nutella spread. if the sandwhiches tend to get soggy, you can toast the bread to prevent that. hummus is a good spread, especially on a bagel. pasta salad can be good, since it's served cold. it's a good way to break up the sandwhich routine. if you have little things of tupperware, you can bring salsas or dips for chips, they also hold salad dressing real well. and there's always gooey balls of granola and chocolate chips! they're real substantial. do you have access to a microwave? if you do, you can microwave pre-cooked noodles, for example. or veggie burgers. i was vegetarian alll through high school so if you need more lunch ideas ive got tons.

are there a lot of vegetarian/vegan kids at your school? or do a lot of students keep kosher, for example? perhaps you could talk to whoever is in charge of lunches, i don't know if it would be the school-board or just the pta or what, but if there are enough people desiring a veg. option, then ask the school to provide one. if there are a lot of kids who pack their lunch only because there isn't an option for them at school, then point that out. veg. kids want hot lunches, too... so maybe if you have enough people interested, it wil fly? it might be worth a try, at least..

When I was vegetarian I'd bring a peanut butter and jelly sandwich everyday, yum.

I'm pretty sure schools are required to provide something vegitarian, if you're in The United States and don't go to a private school.

in florida the lunch ladies are in charge of what's served for lunch, the principal doesn't even have any say - so basically it's whatever is most convenient for them, or what they know how to make.

yeah, lights - they have the 'alternate' lunch = pb&j, all that is required.

Most, of the food in my cafeteria is some kind of fake soy meat. Its some nasty ass shit. Thats why I leave and go to Burger King everyday.

We didn't have a cafetaria at school, we all brought sandwiches as a matter of course. There only was a small stand selling tea & cookies, and you could get tea, coffee, hot chocolate & instant tomato soup from the vending machines.
