If God created the Universe and everything that ticks, why did it take humanity so long to realize that Earth was round, or that the Sun was the center of our solar system? Why does scripture simply say that God separated the light from the day? If God truely created everything, why didnt he explain how the universe came to being, instead of allowing them to write something as simple as God simply created light and dark?

I don't know. Perhaps it has nothing to do with the matter. Whether we are the center of an infinite universe, or in the BFE section of the galaxy has nothing to do with our status as fallen creatures. So, is the astronomical status of the planet somehow relevant to understanding our relationship with God?

Again, because it is unnecessary. Does it really matter whether God eplained exactly how He created the universe? Would it be better if God explained "okay, using principles that you will not grasp for a few thousand years, I created solar bodies. I then used this nifty thing I made that you will someday call gravity to position everything so that it was all good."? Would that somehow make it more credible? How is it at all relevant to the redemptive plan of God?

Here is another idea to consider. Perhaps that was all there was to it. The how is simply "I willed it to be so." Perhaps it is recorded as a simple separation because that is all there was to it.

A get the feeling that you have a sort of scientific bent in your thought processes. That is good. I would recommend you read some papers by Thomas Kuhn.

i agree with alsharad; the reason "god" didn't explain his methods is because we are not equal to him and are forever weaker in intelligence and power. with the concept of god, those would say that it is enough to say that he simply "willed it to being".

as far as why it took humans so long to figure out things like how the earth isn't flat and how the sun doesn't orbit us, well..... that's the progression of science and the shaking off of old, stale theories. we are still sloshing our way through to the truth; theories come and go.

it doesnt do anything for our relationship with God but it does discredit the primitive myth that is Genesis.

i honestly don't kno. i wasnt there...but i can say what i think. i think we werent told specifically because if we were told everything then we wouldnt hav e room to explore and grow...we would be under the dictatorship and pupeteering of God. This is not gods nature....he wanted everyone to be free. So i think the answer is...to give us freedom

why are there poisonous mushrooms that look like the edible ones?

why are avocado pits so big?
why are people as a group so utterly uncontrollably rapacious?
why do so many groups feel the need to hate each other?
    why ask why?

    Evolution/Lack thereof

    Evolution: logistics

They are not and they are. Unreasonable morality makes them rebel to extremity. Egocentricism, characteristic of the surviving being.

Egocentricism, feelings of inferiority. All to protect one's ego.
