see what happens when you let drunk old pittsburgh hillybillys vote on stuff. NOT GOOD!!!!!

i'm sure that a serious list of the best 500 songs ever would have more than 20 artists:rolleyes:

and is George Thorogood from the area you're in?? don't think i ever heard a song of his but he's well represented on the list..

I have heard about 98% of those songs, and that is the best compilation of "The Best Songs" I have ever seen. Zeppelin got alot of songs on that list, ( and they should have them there, they were one of the best bands ever). Stairway to heaven was second, (its one of my favorites, so of course I think it should have been #1, but either way.) Thanks for this list, I want to put this on my computer and work on getting each and every song from this list. Alot of them I probably already have, but I want to get the rest. That would be an awesome project.

It's too bad those are the only songs by those groups that ever get played on the radio over & over.

I miss the old style FM radio of the early/mid 70's. The dj, who always sounded stoned, would play 4 to 5 deep cuts in a row from albums. And they got to choose what they played. I remember when you could go weeks or months without hearing Stairway to Heaven or Free Bird. I have a friend who is a popular dj, and he says all he does is push buttons to a pre-planned program.

Could have easily been named 'The Best Songs That Corporate Radio Stations Were Allowed To Play Between 1965 and 1989'.

It's a nice list, and I can't say I haven't heard every one of those songs. This must be a 'Classic Rock' station, for sure. I think lists like this a mega-fun, but it's all just opinion.

    George T-good at #6??!?!? I don't think so.........

    Thanks for posting!

Maybe I missed it on the list somewhere but I think John Lennon's song "Imagine" should be at the top-#1.I have always loved the words & meaning to this song and did I miss the Eagles song "Hotel California"?

ya this was the "classic rock" station... they play some terrible stuff sometimes, but its the best you can get in Pittsburgh.

ya #1 was a total let-down. the question bothered me all weekend... "what song could possibly be best ever. There's so many!" so i tuned in and Aerosmith's Sweet Emotion won. ahhhh... shitty ending to a pretty nice countdown.

also the DJs didnt pick this list. they said it was voted on by the listeners, and i guess there's a lot of George T. fans here.

in any case, i got to hear a few that i never hear on the radio. good jams. good fun. would be a badass collection to own i agree.

and by the way this was really damn hard to figure out how to post because i happen to be a moron with computers. :p

My #1 would be " This is the one" by the Stone Roses, or maybe "Somebody" by DepecheMode, But I dont expect anyone else to agree. I just been waiting to find those people for so long.........
