Intense hippies... Does anyone think this is an oxymoron? I mean, the generalization is that hippies are floating, breezy, easygoing loafers. Do you think a hippie at heart can have a complex mind and thought system, and many, many lenses with which they view the world? I think it's possible. But is it good or bad? Does it ruin the Hip image? SHould those deeper peeps shallow out and ease up? What do you think?
actually, maybe its all those lenses that make them a hippie.. but then why the free floating image? which we know to be true... Enlightenment?" Man is born free but is everywhere in chains... " SO really, enlightement is knowing nothing and knowing that you know nothing, and choosing to be happy at thats fact? Is this socrates or Plato?
don't generalize people so much; "hippies" can be anybody, "hippies" can be intense or mellow, they can be intelligent or naive. peace, sophia
WEll, i think I am an intense hippy then bc I am free floating except in competitive situations. I am not sure which greek said your quote.
lol I am saying that the generalization IS, not My idea is such generalization. But you made my point I think, in going the easy' no barrier, category or restriction' thing when in the real world, thats all there is. I think Voltaire said my quote, but I meant the philosophy in general, the only true knowledge i possess is knowing that i know nothing. im thinking Plato..
I think that the essence of "hippie" is not naivity or passiveness. I think that being "hippie" is no more than a label, a way to easier identify items or people. I think that analyzingz a stereotypical hippie is probably not the easiest way to identify those characterisitics we classify as hippie.
well we've all chosen to identify ourselves on here havent we? WE all share common characteristics, which divided are no more uncommon than eyes and ears. its because we're this AND that that we are sort of the spiritual societal misfits who dare to speak against consumerism? that allows you to be an intense person... I'm just trying to gauge the crowd here
I think those lenses is what makes hippies so different....they see the world in it's purest form, something that the rest of the people who are infected by consumerism cannot see, they only see brand name labels, SUVS, and anything else "trendy", that is their world thru their lenses. Hippies are deeper thinkers, and can be intense or mellow, it's a state of mind. Carly
People are too worried about boxing themselves and others up with nice neat labels. When the truth of the matter is that unless your a vegetable we are all complicated creatures with many different and similar motives for the reasons we think and act.
WOW!! What do I think?!? 1:50am you hit us with a question right on the nose! 1:55am comes the knock-out blow! Your such a heavyweight, you could be weightless. Do you intend to be this facinating and wise your whole life? Or, will you wake-up one day, and wonder what happened? I don't know about enlightenment, but if back-then I had been one/tenth as wise as you, I would be so much more awake right-now! I'd like some day to trade spirits with you just to see what makes you tick, just to feel what you feel. Maybe Socrates or Plato, but I do feel the nirvana in your breath-flow. Maybe Voltare or Rousseau, but I am feeling the stretch of your high-dive let-go. But the answer is, that they're only answers.
I think multiple lenses allows for more flexibility and the ability to relate to more folks. These also is a gift. If you have this you have the gift of understanding things from different perceptions. Which is damn valuable when you are being made to rely on your beliefs. A hippy is a person whose ideals are those that purify and renew the old. In my oppinion.
Serious sis, I look up when I hear such questions. There I see you, a comet streaking high across my nite sky.
