I feel really sorry for lobsters, not a lot of people seem to mention lobsters on this forum, but it's really sad if you think about it. They are trapped and taken away from their home. Then they wait in that glass cage not knowing what is to become of them, then someone just takes them away and boils them alive... :(

Lobster was the first meat I refused to eat...

Am I alone on thinking that that is upsetting?

I hear you! I love the taste so I'll eat lobster maybe once every five years or so... but I always feel a little guilty. Lobsters are cool animals... so are squid.

    Aww that's sweet :)

I have never eaten lobster, and obviously never intend to.

I used to go on holiday to France as a child, as a nation they are [expletive of choice] towards animals. In every supermarket there were tanks crammed full of lobsters. Never considered what happened to them, didn't want to.
Always knew it was totally wrong, with the wisdom only children have.

Yeah as a child I would go to the grocery store and see them all climbing all over one another with their claws rubber banded together. I would just sit there and stare at them and wish I had the money to buy them all so that I could set them free.

I'm okay with fresh caught lobsters. Life's a bitch and some of 'em get eaten. I don't have a lot of sympathy for them or their relatives. In tanks? It's way cruel.

i read somewhere that a local group would go and set them free from chinatown and free them into english bay. the problem i have with this, as kind as it is is they aren't from here so i think (have heard) this messes with the eco-system somehow?

I am a vegetarian (and a Jew), so eating lobsters is totally out of the question for me. I agree that this treatment is cruel. However, to play the devil's advocate for a moment, I will say that that preparation method is necessary to prevent the lobsters from becoming toxic to humans. They don't boil them alive "for sport." I am still agreeing with you that it is totally wrong, though.

Lobster in tacks is a bad idea.....
Fresh ones are a lot better....a lil butter....some garlic and lime......a corona. Heaven.

Theres a lil place on the side of the road in york Maine where you can get em dirt cheap. I drove 8 hours for some lobster there once.....

I am trying to figure out a way to grill em.....

only thing seafood wise thats as good is fresh blue crabs from off the gulf coast.
