I'm sure alot of you have seen PInk Floyd's "The Wall". I thought it was pretty amazing. It was quite disturbing but it was just cool to see how they made a movie with animation, real acting and hardly any diologue. Only music to tell the story. Whada You think???
this is definitely one of my favorites around where i live, girls arent into this kind of thing so this is refreshing! i thought the multiple interpretations of the movie are interesting...the most surface appearance is pink's drug/rock star lifestyle problem shadowed by a problemed family in the past and problematic interactions with women then as you see more you realize his demons are coiled up in his brain, and he's setting himself free...letting go...it's really kind of buddhist or taoist if you ask me (however im by no means a guru at either religion, so forgive me if i have made a mistake). every bit of animation is symbolic, open to the viewers interpretation we all have our own wall to deal with (however i feel like mine is still building up ya know? it's like u finally knock it down and it comes back dammit) im rambling. peace. love.
It is an absolute work of Art!!! with several important messages. There is the whole thing about not allowing your self to become isolated from society and power obsesses ect. then as it was made at the beggining on the 80's (1979??) it also touches on how the police were asbusing their power and about our leaders being little more than control obsessed thugs. (similar to CWO i suppose) then it talks about relationshps, starting of all fresh and beautiful (the flowers) and turning bitter and violent. mmm yes. this has to be my second favourite film (2nd to easy rider)
i still have yet to see it...i've only seen one part where they play another brick in the wall(part 2), but that was long ago. I was listening to the wall for the first time in a long time a few days ago, and it reminded me i really got to see this, looks very good!
I've only seen most of the first disk (well, the parts of the movie that correspond to the first disk of the CD). I thought it was really good and even at the time I was thinking that I needed to watch it again (and again, and again, et al) to fully understand it, and even after that it would still be open to more interpretation.
Yeah i know what you mean. It's like everyhitng just stacks on top of each other and then you gotta finally knock it down. The animation was really amazing i thought (the only thing is, is that animation scares me
Excellent movie, but the alblum is has such powerfull emotion on it's own I would rather listen to the alblum and watch the story in my mind than watch the movie...
Good movie, but just so depressing. But the CD is so much better on it's own. The end of the movie is just tedious. But still good!
yeah the wall is probaly one of my fravrat films but to me the ending was a bit of a drag even roger waters and alan parker sat down and removed a good 15 mins of it but you do see some of it in another brick it the wall part 3 with some women on a hospital bad and maggots great album argueably one of there masterpices:H
whats there not to understand its just its simple story about roger walters growing up and him be comeing my and more lost a distruktive put it to abtract art contentx and ......... has anyone noticed the empey spaces sond is shorter on the record and on the film its a realyy good song i wish they put it on its the beast part of the film aswell
The first time i saw that movie I cried when the boy's pet died. that movie is awsome, especially when you're trippin by yourself late at night and you cant leave your room or else you'll get in trouble.
The wall is in my opinion on of the best movies ever, but then again, pink floyd is one of my favorite bands, I feel the movie explains the album well...and yeah the last scene, outside the wall, brings the movie together perfectly.....has anyone noticed on the end of the album it says "save this world", it is in the last 2 or 3 seconds of the last song, anyhow yeah, great movie
I still do sometimes and I've seen it tons of times! One of my favourite movies, its the sort of thing you need to be in the mood for. It is quite a depressing film, very complex so its best to watch a few times to try to understand all of the symbolism and the actual storyline. Some parts of the film are about Syd Barrett, its like his and Roger Waters biographies jumbled into one. A lot of the scenes about Roger are relevant to Syd too, like the death of his father at a young age and being a "mummy's boy". Very good acting from Bob Geldof, he shows Pink's emotions fantastically considering how little dialogue is in the film.
I think the music on the movie is much better than the album. mother sounds ten times better on the soundtrack, plus you have when the tigers broke free and what shall we do now (follows empty spaces) on the soundtrack. two of the best moments on the soundtrack for sure.
