What makes you a hippy?, to what influences do you attribute to your becoming a hippy? For me I have to say it was a combination between my religious education and my parents. The denomination of Judaism I practiced (I'm now a Bhuddist) was markedly "liberal" in its' overall approach to the world. The ideas about Earth, social justice, and especialy individual freedom were all very progressive. Only recently however, did I become enamored with the truly "hippy" ideology, absorbing various philosophical and religious concepts and integrating them into my pre-existing knowledge. For example, I had always appreciated Paganism, but it wasn't until my good friend Jordan educated me I on the more complex aspects did I ever consider myself the least bit Pagan. I have always enjoyed 60's music and counterculture ideals. I'm against the Iraq war but don't consider myself a pacifist. I'm currently reading On The Road and have read Zen and The Art of Motorcycle Maintenence. One of my favorite is Easy Rider. These are just a few bits and pieces of me, prehaps I'm a hippy prehaps I'm not but in any event I don't plan to change. HIPPIES OF THE WORLD UNITE!
My fascinations with nature and the outdoors. The hands on stuff and simplicity. Plus the persona as a influence... I like to find myself as peaceful, calm, laidback, reasonable, nonjudgemental, and helpful to other people. It's great because people around me start rubbing off and acting the same way. I feel happiest this way. Far as views and stuff are concerned I'm a bit more of a republican type of human. But in reality as I never ever watch TV, I don't have the attention span for it, I believe that politics don't effect me very much at the moment. Plus where I live its pretty silent. Not much into that stuff. Don't like argue much with folks or set myself on a pedestal on stupid things like I know all. Different views and perceptions are good, they bring diversity.
My love for nature, people, and love itself. My ability to see things from many perspectives. My quest for honesty and equality. My love of physical contact (sexual or otherwise) and love of music and running through feilds. (hehe) Also I just love things. I lvoe everything and everyone. I dont know how to explain it.
Its peoples need to tag me with a label that makes me a hippie, lol, I prefer the label of a human be-ing
Ive been labeled a hippy by my entire school basically. I dont quite see myself as a hippy, but I can say I have many attributes of a hippy.
1.I think peace can unite the world if we all try 2.Music,Art,Wirtting I do it all 3.I have these cool sunglasses with peace symbols in them 4.I listen to a lot of hippie bands form the 60s 5.Im very laid back.....
I sold all of my material posessions except for my $100 pair of patchwork pants to buy a micro bus and I went to bonnaroo last year............................ Does that make me a hippie?

what makes me a hippy is i grew up like that haha. I love nature, outdoors, camping, rock climbing, peace, the environment, making my world a better place, i try to stand up for the animals and be their voice, i love people and all their personalities. i just love to love
I'm not really a hippie ... I just look like one. ... and smell like one, and ... I like the New Riders of the Purple Sage. Hell, maybe I am a freakin' hippie. Praise Jesus!
for the last 35 years or so I have always wanted to be a hippy. I was just a few years younger than the hippies who were doing all the things like Woodstock, Summer of Love, Anti-war demos etc.... I aspired to be like them, hung out in the student union during Kent State (at 15), hitchiked, smoked pot, listened to the Dead, acid, dropped out, went to S.F., joined a commune, anti-nuke and enviromental protests etc... Still aspiring to be a hippy, have lots of friends now who are those hippies I admired and sometimes I think I am quite close but then there are times that I am still very far. It is a way of being and close doesn't make it. I am still conditioned to a great extent on the culture that I was raised in and until I can go beyond that and totally incorporated the values of the hippy culture, I will not be one. But it is fun to keep trying, never a dull moment
