I have a white Jeans machine that I like. It was about $200 and it is a work horse. My first sewing machine (my backup sewing machine now) is an all metal Kenmore from the 70's. Kenmore's are also great machines. You can buy them at sears and get it serviced there.

www.allbrands.com is a great sewing machine store.

i got a brand new brother sewing machine that iss very good for just about everything in walmart for $98 dollars. But it all depends on what you wanna do with the sewing machine.

I've wanted a sewing maching for quite awhile. I plan on taking a stab at making curtains for my vw and maybe some cushion covers and pillows. We have quite a few thrift stores in the area. So I'll probably pick one up second hand. My Grandmother always used Singer machines. She swore by them.
