havent worked out in about a year but i need to get in shape next year i plan on playing soccer, basketball, running track, running cross country, and continue being captain of the swim team, and participating in a body building competition this summer. well to gain the most bulk for my whole body but not gain so much weight my muscles are not defined. i hate that luck big body but you cant really tell if it is muscle or fat.

should i take creatine, whey protein, energy pills all or none of it?

should i do super sets or do more weight on one thing?

do i need long strenuous workouts with more weight and more rest or 8-12 rep sets of 3 quick or just light burnouts?

which would be better for putting on bulk and keeping definition more carbs or protein or just alot of both?

For endurance, more reps...for muscle, more wieght. So you'd want to do more wieght. I heard Creatine was really bad for you...heh. I wouldn't take it probably. What's a super set?

    Steroids...........seriously........but don't go there

there is no 'quick way' to gain bulk, unless you're in the minority of genetic freaks. Genetics and body type play big roles.

For the most bang for the buck, do powerlifting movements -- squats, bench, deadlift -- and ditch the isolation movements -- curls, flyes, leg extentions/curls, etc -- and go as heavy as you can for 6-8 reps and still maintain good form.

It also depends on what kind of shape you're in now. If you do an extreme amount of aerobic exercise, it will be much more difficult to gain 'bulk'.

    so Longview............Texas?

ya longview texas. well my body does gain muscle fast, verry fast but im mainly trying to decide what will be the best workout for this. i hear all this stuff about dont work out every day and dont work out over an hour but i like working out every day and for well over an hour so is that really unhealthy?

a superset is like doing a tricep workout then no rest go straight to a bicep workout then back. i usually burnout on stuff to work the muscles to the full extent but today i will try the 6-8 reps and see how that does.

thanks for the help im about to go now.

supersets are good- and even if your muscles hurt they are repaired after 24 hours if you don't really overuse them (use above info for weights and you should be fine) just remember to eat carbs and some protein and drink plenty of water to help those muscles reach peak performance. i would suggest though to prevent any injuries and set-backs, one day use the normal heavier weights that allow you to only do 6-8 reps (try to work up on how many sets you can do) and then the next day use a lighter weight so that you still use the muscles and work them out but you just don't overdo it

ok cool once again good help.

on the diet thing well my family is pretty poor (12k last year) so i just dont eat as much as i should but im trying to put togeather a good eating habit on a limited buget. here is my idea so far potatoes(complex carbs), ranch style beans(protein and other kind of carbs), grean beans(once again other kind of carbs), ramen noodle soup(protein and carbs), and lots of milk and water. this healthy enough and is there any other cheap foods i can get that are verry helpfull also?
