This is a concept I quickly wrote up... I plan to maybe make it into a novel or short story in the future... Just wanna have some feedback on the idea, if you please. Wasteland - Sardonic story telling of the wealth, growth and grandeur of modern society. The very name screams sarcasm. A wealthy city with skyscrapers built of coins and paper dollars, utopian ideas and worlds stacked like houses built of decks of cards - all threatened by the ever taunting forces of a bitter and savage nature. The thundering trembles beneath the earth, the serpentine winds squeezing around precious skyscrapers. We will have conquered both, and all that stands in the way of manifest destiny of our kind. Our feet are planted firmly, firmer than the biggest trees nature has to offer. Our hands reach out and push the skies, so that not even the attempted intrapment, the blue dome threatening to incase us all in the realms of Earth, will be able to hold our mighty branches. We are truly the sons and daughters of a great God. ... Even the last of them cried out, as their world lied in ruin, the cities of temples to the Great Dream toppled over, the barren lands of once fertile Earth, the empty plains now dried as deserts, the very veins of the planet sucked dry - they still proclaimed "We have beaten her! In all her attempts to destroy us! We have won! Have you not seen her tries to steal away our food? Our life? Without this planet, we live on! Live on!" They shouted, as the last of them dissipated in an evanescent shrill of genetic extermination.
