I dunno why but I almost always follow the bass. Or Sometimes the guitar when it's something like reggae where there's an up beat

depends on who is playing...and the night.
New Monsoon? I'm up in Rajeev's face with his tablas.
Sci, I'm along with Billy, Jeff Austin in YMSB, Tim with Rail Road earth.
Mark Karan with Rat Dog, Jerry and or Billy-Mickey for the Gdead, Phil in his projects... see?
but the generic listening to background point (baseline) is probably a combo of the rhythm section, whatever it might be.
With Kannal, I cannot tell, they fling we around like a ragdoll and I intentionally focus on Tzol (singer) but Gilly and Aron and Rudolfo are right there (rhythm section) and Tieroo (guitar) can pull me on a night where he is playing hot.

I know what you mean - it changes for me too depending on the band I'm listening to. In some cases, it changes depending on the song too.

I'm interested in hearing Kan'Nal, are they on the archive?

I'm not sure. Sometimes I dance to the lyrics, sometmes the guitar, sometimes the bass, ect. I love to dance to drums. I LOVE drum circles.

funny i was asked this question a while ago. I often find myself following the bass grooves more than any other instrument. really depends, but i always pay attention to the bassline in most songs.

    I dance to fiddles. :)

If there are no fiddles, then I just dance along to the general feel of the music. Normally I'm naturally moved by the bass line, trumpets, or drums (but like conga drums, not drumset).

My Man played in the same number 1 local band since 1982.. They play every thing from Alabama to Audioslave.> I'm the best band wife ever.. It's my job to keep the drunks dancing and buying drinks, (preferably mine), so I tend to match other peoples moves.. It's been my experience that most people dance to whatever is playing the fastest.. Seriously.. When I'm thinking about it and dancing for other people to see, I move my feet to bass, drums or rhythm guitar, and my arms to the vocals or lead guitar. when I'm dancing like nobodies looking , It's hard to tell what it comes out like.. My guy says I "go about it funny", but he likes watching 'cause I'm graceful...Peace Love

it's weird to be first on the floor in a small place, eh?
I 've taken it on as a "job" to get the others on their feet, or at least standing and bopping.
