I'm sure there is some drug/disease/illness that has made this possible for someone before. Oh and it helps if you're very obese to start with.

Yeah,it is possible,I lost 58lbs in 60 days.Thats close.I did it under care of a doctor,I went once a week.I have to tell you it was nt real easy,at least in the beginning.I had to drink 72 oz.of water per day,and it was carbs derived from fruits and veggies,no sugar,no processed carbs. No flour,no noodles,no crackersno potatoes etc.High protien including supplements.Besides all that, vitamins especially potassium.you can eat meat, lean cuts only,no pork. The thing that is most inportant is to drink WATER.as with this diet you build up ketones in you re body that can become SERIOUSLY TOXIC!!!It is also inportant to see a doc first,to make sure there are nt any underlying causes.I had hypo-thyroidism for 3 years, undiagnosed.I kept gaining weight, starving myself, berating myself because I would have a salad,2 crackers and a slim fast drink.I would totally get down on myself fo eating the crackers!I then found out that my body s metabolism was way messed up.It took a year to get on the right dosage. At any rate, you have to be careful:as a result of going w/o treatment for so long I now have some serious cardiac problems.Besides possibly rheumatic fever when I was 4.Wow,I didnt mean to go on and on blah blah watch it I ll talk you re ears off...or put you to sleep.Anywho..Good luck with youre weightloss, and one other thing..I tried skimping on some of the food from that diet(I had to force myself in the end )and I found that if I did NOT eat what I was supposed to I did nt lose the weight. This diet is a fat burner, and puts you re body in a state of ketosis which can be very dangerous,I can t stress that enough for anyone considering doing so.Water, water water, and talk about peeing!Ha ha plan youre day around it.Dont wait until night to start...

No it is not. Unless you lop off an arm. A normal human being should only lose between .5 to 2lbs per week. Do the math. At first people lose a little bit more, quite possibly they could lose up to 5lbs in a week, but that is mostly water. If you are losing any more than this, you are not losing fat, but rather muscle and it is EXTREMELY unhealthy to even attempt. I don't know of any doctor who would disagree with me. At least not any with a medical degree.

If however you have had a medical condition in the past and you have recently treated it, such as the above poster with hypothyroidism, or often when someone is first treated for diabetes, you can lose a lot of weight, but that is because your body was not working properly previously.

Trying to do that is quite possibly the most unhealty thing I have ever heard. Your body goes through massive metabolic changes and when you say "I've lost enough" and start eating a healthy diet again your metabolism shoots through the roof and you gain it back very quickly. Losing weight isn't just a change in diet, its changing a life style. Eating better foods, exercise, and stimulating your mind. Thats how to lose in a healty way and it doesn't happen overnight, it takes a long time. Think around a year to lose a massive amount in a healty way and to keep it off.

Well it's barely *technically* possible. Since 1lb is 3500kcals which is a lot more than average daily energetic use (2000-2800). Even if you're big or usually physically active your metabolism won't let 3500kcals evaporate like that everyday.

Amanda's, you are right people who have more to lose do find that it comes off more quickly and easily than those of us who are at the end of our weight loss journey. However, a lot of times in the beginning they are losing water and muscle along with fat. That is why it is called losing weight, it doesn't specify where the weight is coming from.

But also consider, the human body is not designed to be overweight, which is why overweight people end up with so many health problems. So the body is doing what it thinks is normal once the person starts a proper eating/exercise regimen.

I lost over 165lbs about 5 years ago. It only took me 9 months and it seemed so easy then. And I am currently struggling with the last 20 that seem to not want to budge. The thing that I have to keep remembering though is I would so much rather be dealing with this frustration and struggle of these last few pounds than to be back where I was when I first began.

And our bodies do reach a set point. It is where you body believes it should be, and it is very very hard to break it. So maybe you don't measure up to society's standards with that extra 10lbs, but at least it isn't an extra 165lbs and I doubt that it is causing you any health problems. Just do your best, eat lots of fruits and veggies, drink plenty of water and go out in the sunshine. You might lose it before you even know it!

Good Luck! I know you can do it.

Yes, absolutely its possible. High altitude mountaineers do it on a fairly regular basis. If you can put on 50 lbs. in 50 days you can lose it. I saw a boxer put on 25 lbs. in 24 hours.

eat 25 pounds of food? why a boxer would want to put on that much weight in 24 hours is beyond me..normally they want to lose weight so they can drop down a weight class.

i wonder if your body could even handle 25 pounds of food going into your stomach..

I don't believe it. Didn't happen. A stomach only holds a cup or two of contents. A stomach would RIP with that much food.

Actually your stomach can expand to almost the size of a volley ball... but I sure as hell wouldn't want to try it. I really think it would be near impossible to consume 25 pounds of food in one day, assuming of course that liquids don't count since they just pass.

    Never-the-less, I don't believe it either.
