SPELLING FILMS TO REMAKE LYNCH'S ERASERHEAD

LOS ANGELES, April 1, 2004 -- Spelling Films, a division of Spelling Entertainment Group Inc. (NYSE and PE: SP), announced plans today to remake David Lynch's cult film classic "Eraserhead." Peter H. Bachmann, Executive Vice President, Office of the President of Spelling Entertainment Group Inc., said, "We look forward to updating this classic film for the new century. The original is a bit confusing to modern audiences. We hope to be faithful to the original, but also to add that Spelling touch we've shown with some of our television products, such as Beverly Hills 90210 and Melrose Place. The original was so dark, we want to make it a more modern, hip film." The project is tentatively titled "Eraserhead 2005."

Casting has already begun for Eraserhead 2005. In a major coup following his success in Titanic and Gangs of New York, Leonardo DiCaprio has been cast in the role of Henry, the lead character originally played by the late Jack Nance. Tori Spelling, a long-time veteran of Spelling projects, has been cast in the role of MaryX. Pauly Shore has been offered the role of "The Man in the Planet." "I'm looking forward to spicing up the role with my comic talents" Shore said.

In keeping with the trends of modern films, the baby, a major focus of the film, will be digitally created with cgi graphics. "This will allow us to do all kinds of things with it they couldn't in the original. We're even thinking of having it dance around, like the one on Ally McBeal!" Bachmann reported.

Rounding out the "Eraserhead 2005" team will be director Joel Schumacher, who is credited as saving the Batman series from Tim Burton's overly-dark vision. "Films should be fun!" Schumacher said. "That's what I want to do with Erasehead 2005, make a fun film everyone will enjoy, even the kids!"

The project is scheduled to start filming in the summer of '04, in time for a Christmas '04 release.

    bullshit i guess...

Yeah thats what most people are saying. In a way its funyn i guess, but its going to make money off of a film that never really did. I wonder what lynch thinks about this. The film is going to have to be Completely changed, and I mean just about everything. The subject, the visuals. and for kids too?!
