I'm considering dreading my hair and just wanted to know alittle bit first.... can you dye your dreadies? and what method is the best to dread your hair? thanks for your comments and suggestions!!!!
If you don't want to go naturally (meaning, just don't brush your hair and let it take its course), then I suggest backcombing as the best. But then again, that's all I've ever done, so I'm biased...lol. As far as dying goes, I actually just got done dying my own dreadies... hehe. I had some of them dyed a reddish color which turned to an orangey color, and I was getting sick of that...so I just dyed the orange ones auburn, and I'm doing the rest of 'em black tomorrow. So in answer to your question...yes, dreads are just knotted hair...you can dye hair, so you can dye dreads...
very cool, thanks, I think I'm going to dread my hair, I want to soooooooo bad I just don't want to mess it up. it's cool that I can still dye my hair, I like to change things up now and again, plus i look better with lighter hair not my natural dishwater blonde color, so that's pretty cool. I am sooooo excited I've been thinking about it for a while. I can't wait to do it!!!
Id advise not bleeching the hair when its dreaded because it will make them brittle and weak. If you want to blonde your hair naturally, lemon juice and the sunshine works
Yeah, I'm the same way...I like to change it up every once in a while. I think you should definitely dread up! It's the best hair style I've ever had...I love my dreadies and I'm sure you'll see why they're awesome once you do your own... You can bleach your hair...I bleached mine less than a year ago, and then dyed the bleached dreads a bright red color. It didn't make mine any more brittle, but maybe that's just me. But, if you already know you're gonna want lighter hair, I would suggest dying/bleaching your hair before you dread up...it'll be much easier.
ive dyed my hair at least 5 times since ive had dreads and never had any problems. i just used that stuff in the box.. i think it was feria.. haha just use the whole freakin bottle and rub it ALL OVER your head. dreads are kinda like sponges so they will soak up alot of dye.. but it still works. it helps if you have someone to do the back so you dont miss spots underneath and have a splotchy dye job. but yep, you can definitely do it. post pics if you do!
